As I stood there talking to Canyon, I couldn't shake the image of Astrid fighting the void hound. Her claws sliced through them like a sword. It was terrifying, something I'd never seen before.

 

It wasn't just her power that unsettled me; it was the voice I'd heard. The voice that claimed she belonged to the Void King. The thought gnawed at me, one I couldn't ignore.

 

Canyon was standing across from me, his expression thoughtful but concerned. His long, dark hair was tied back, revealing the sharp angles of his face, his eyes narrowing as he listened intently to what I had to say. Canyon was a man of few words, but when he spoke, it was always something serious.

 

"Canyon, something else isn't right," I began, my voice low, as if speaking louder would make the fear more real. "When Astrid fought the void hound, there was this voice…"
