Longing

That night, Maverick's carriage pulled up to his residence. The moment the wheels stopped, the coachman jumped down frantically and rushed to the door where Henry stood waiting.

"His lordship... he might be injured!" the coachman stammered, eyes wide with concern.

Henry's heart sank as he hurried to the carriage, pulling open the door. Inside, Maverick sat unconscious leaning on the carriage wall, his face pale, with blood trailing down his cheek.

Henry's calm demeanor faltered for a moment, but he quickly regained composure, issuing orders with quiet authority.

"Fetch the doctor," Henry said sternly to the coachman. "And keep this quiet. No one must hear of this."

The coachman nodded and rushed off into the night. Meanwhile, Henry and the other servants carefully move Maverick to his chamber. The once peaceful household was now a flurry of anxious activity.
