Chapter 17

I wearily opened my eyes and was instantly greeted by a canopy of thick trees, the moonlight shone dimly through the cracks in the leaves illuminating the ground and my surroundings.

I immediately looked around, scanning every aspect of my surroundings until I noticed that Shinso and Aizawa fell through that "portal" with me, but they were still unconscious.

Leaning up I looked in the distance and noticed nothing but flat plains which rolled on behind what the eyes would see, and behind me was the same sight.

"Where am I?"

I reached into my pocket and took out my phone, except my phone didn't look like my usual phone, but it was a 5 pound heap of metal in my pocket, a phone from what looks like the 1800's.

"What the?"

I was immediately wrapped in confusion as I rubbed my eyes, confirming what I was seeing, and it was right, my phone was gone, like I've been sucked into a parallel reality.

Tiny groans rolled out of Shinso's mouth as he abruptly awoke on the ground, also just as confused with his surroundings.

"Where are we?"

He asked, rubbing his eyes while stretching. I fell silent for a few seconds, staring into the ground as sweat beamed down my head even in the cool night.

"I don't know."

Shinso's eyebrows furrowed slightly.

"Did your quirk bring us here?"

He asked, approaching me slightly with a scoot. I stared up into the star dabbled sky and replied.

"I think so, the puddle below me looked like a wormhole."

I replied as I rubbed my head, still staring into the sky.

"It's my fault, damn it."

I thought to myself , looking back at Shinso with a mildly concerned look. Then my mind wandered over to the dream I had 2 nights ago and why my quirk awakened while having it.

"That dream, that man was talking about fate, how fate is a rock and how every choice shapes that rock...what could that mean?"

"And the bird, the field, and the concept of freedom and escaping, maybe transcending fate? It's...complicated."

I pondered, leaning back into the tall grass while closing my eyes, as if I didn't care that we were in an entirely new world, pretty much distracting myself from the problem.

"What happened?"

Mr. Aizawa croaked up as he leaned up and looked around the environment in puzzlement.

"Isaac's quirk took us here."

Shinso answered, staring into the distance, as if trying to discern something, which caught Mr. Aizawa's attention.

"What is it?"

Shinso turned back to look at him, his expression slightly uplifted.

"I think I found civilization."

Aizawa's eyes slightly widened as I opened mine.

"You did?"

Shinso nodded as he pointed to a small trail of smoke that stretched from the from the fields, past another forest and leading to what appears to be a town.

"Well, should we get going?"

Shinso asked us, leaning against a tree, but the only answer he got was silence, clearly telling him that everyone was pretty bone tired.

"I'll take that as a no, we'll leave in the morning."

He said as he lied against a tree while closing his eyes, attempting to fall asleep, but his silence was quickly broken by the brightness of a lamp blinding the darkness.

We all opened our eyes and saw a pretty tall young man with cloud like blue hair and cheerful blue eyes which matched his hair.

"What are you guys doing out here? The night prowlers might eat you guys."

He smiled, setting his lantern onto the grass before reaching his arms for us to pull up with.

"Who are you exactly?"

Aizawa asked, narrowing his eyes towards the lad, but he just laughed like an idiot.

"Names Oboro, nice to meet y'all."

Aizawa's eyes widened suddenly, like he just heard either the best or worst news of his life.

"Oboro...oh my god."

Oboro raised an eyebrow, looking at the man with a curious yet suspicious look.

"What is it?"

Aizawa remained silent, leaning against a tree for balance like he was having a stroke.

"O-Oboro...y-you're dead."

He remained silent for a few seconds, staring into the lamp light as if he was trying to understand what Aizawa was saying, but he simply rubbed it off like a bug.

"Do you know me or something, I don't think we've met."
