Chapter 27

After waking up again I found myself with a small headache. I looked at the clock and saw that it was now 6:25 in the morning, meaning I slept about 11 hours tonight, the most I've slept in a while.

The morning sun showed through the windows as I saw that Oboro was in the kitchen, making something pretty delicious, as the smell of butter, cinnamon and sugar filled the air.

I held my head with my hand and approached Oboro, who looked back towards me.

"Look who's up already."

He smiled at me and flipped the pancakes that were inside the pan, only making the great smell fill the room more.

"I didn't know cinnamon was used to make pancakes, that sounds good."

Oboro now seemed puzzled, as he furrowed his brow a little.

"How'd you know I used cinnamon?"

I looked around trying to see any cinnamon on the counter, but he must have put it back into the cabinets. So I had to think about it now.

"Chef's nose."

Oboro let out a low chuckle, before turning off the stove and putting a stack of pancakes onto a plate.

"Today I have the day off, so I figured I'd spoil myself."

He said as he took a bite, chewing it fully before swallowing.

"So you don't eat sugary foods before you work? I'd just eat cereal before going to school, so it's not that different."

I told him, sitting down across from him at the table. Watching him eat.

"What's cereal?"

I paused and fell silent for a good few seconds before speaking up again.

"Well, it's a bunch of things in a bowl with milk."

Oboro almost choked on his pancakes, trying not to laugh at how ridiculous it sounds.

"It sounds weird, I want to try it."

I paused again, how would I get him cereal, how would I know if it's something he'll bring up again?

"I don't know how I'll give you any because you're about 200 years too early for its invention."

Oboro then looked down at his plate in disappointment, but then took another bite and his face lit back up.

"Damn, I guess using cinnamon was a good option."

"You haven't used it before?"

Oboro nodded.

"Yeah, it's my first time, I like to be curious with my cooking, always trying new things."

He smiled, the pancakes on his plate almost being completely gone. Then he perked back up, looking towards the pan.

"Want some? I have extra in the pan if you want."

I nodded, walking over to the pan and grabbing a plate before putting a stack of them onto the plate and walking back to the table.

I then took a bite, and my face lit up. It was honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten, and the cinnamon surely didn't disappoint in any way.

"Man, I wasn't expecting it to be this good."

I smiled at him as I dug my fork deeper into the pancakes and took a bigger bite. Even with the lack of syrup, Oboro's pancakes were the best I've ever had.

"Oboro?"

I asked him, he looked up at me and smiled.

"Yeah?"

I gulped, pulling out the almost empty bottle of the potion I drank last night.

"Do you know what this is?"

His eyes widened as he snatched the bottle from me and looked at it with wide eyes.

"Where the hell did you get this?"

I began to sweat, I could feel his eyes boring into me like a hawk.

"A street vendor gave them to me."

Oboro's eyes narrowed as he approached me. Pulling out a chair before sitting in it and looking at me with folded hands.

"What were the ingredients?"

I gulped, before speaking in a frantic voice.

"Orstrid blood, squid tentacle and raven's feather."

His eyes only widened as he grabbed the bottle and tossed it into a drawer.

"Isaac, you drank a Routeway potion, and you've unlocked a whole new world of danger for yourself!"

He slammed his hand onto the table, causing the plates to rattle a little, but instantly turned his head to look at Aizawa and Shinso, who were still asleep luckily.

"You're coming with me today, I have someone you need to speak to."
