Chapter 29

Me and Oboro stepped out of Aaron's house following the small investigation with the Routeway potion, and made our way back down the street and towards the usual section of town.

By the time we reached there, most of the people had awoken and gone about their daily business, and were on the streets talking, buying things or just being casual.

"What do we suppose we do now? Aaron will be running the tests and I have the day off? Maybe I should show you and the others around town."

Oboro suggested, nudging me playfully on the elbow before continuing on. We got back to Oboro's apartment and opened the door. By the time we got back, Aizawa and Shinso were both awake, eating the remains of the pancakes left on the pan, which were probably cold by now.

"Since I have the day off I figured I'd show you guys around town."

Oboro announced, leaning against the counter and looking at them, before taking the pot from the stove and putting it into the sink.

Shinso perked up slightly and looked towards Oboro, Aizawa just remained silent.

"Really now, that'll be interesting."

Shinso spoke up, wiping his face with a napkin before standing up and stretching. Aizawa did the same, and then we were all ready to go and see the kingdom.

We left Oboro's apartment and stepped into the street, instantly weaving back and avoiding a carriage which ran a little past the proposed speed limit.

"What shall we look at first?"

Oboro thought to himself before looking down the street and spotting the open park.

"What about the park?"

He turned towards us with a smile before he started to walk right from the apartment and down the street. We followed him and eventually we all turned into the park and followed the gravelly trail.

Bushes were trimmed into the shapes of small animals like squirrels, cats, mice, dogs and others of the same type. And the large water fountain was situated where the 4 paths in the cardinal directions intersected, so the fountain was dead in the center of the park.

A few on goers passed by, walking their small chihuahua which looked at us and growled, but was quickly ushered on by its owners.

"I don't like those dogs, always so angry for no reason."

Oboro chuckled, turning back to look at us, making sure that no one had gotten lost in any way, but the 3 of us remained behind him.

"...now, let's keep going."

We all pressed forward and left the park before turning left onto Ramp Street where most of the businesses were located besides Oboro's.

But this part of town was almost deserted since it was a rest day, so we technically had this street to ourselves to look inside the building windows and see what everyone did.

The baker's building was filled with the aroma of fresh bread and fruitcake, while the blacksmiths reeked of coal and metal. After about 10 minutes we headed further down the streets until we reached the rich and established portion of town where the self proclaimed rich people lived, and by the way houses looked, I could certainly tell that this was where Oboro was talking about.

"This is where the rich people live. I've always dreamed of living here, but the thought of buying such stupid and unnecessary items makes me shrivel."

Oboro remarked, his walking gradually slowed, he put his hands in his pockets as he stared up into the windows of the tall buildings, where he saw the people sipping wine so expensive his yearly salary couldn't afford.

"How about you guys go back, I'll catch up."

His voice had a longing feel to it as he asked this of us, but we didn't pay much attention to it as we just decided to go back to the apartment, and let Oboro stay there.
