Bai Lianhua is chosen to become an concubine and leaves her life as a courtesan and her family behind in the pleasure district.

Amidst the lessons and a sea of rivals, Lianhua meets a young nobleman named Mo Zuiyan who is an avid believer in the supernatural and he aids Lianhua in her studies and attempts to befriend her.

Lianhua knows that she has odd dreams about memories that weren't her own, and yet she doesn't know where they come from, or who these memories belong to. Zuiyan is dealing with his own personal problems and knows there's only a matter of time before the truth is revealed.

Lianhua and Zuiyan notice that there's a connection, but cannot act upon it - unless fate has other ideas.
