The Oddities of Alliances

As the sun began setting on the California Coast, the Ghost of the Greater Ottawa Coalition, Keith of the Confederation of the Texan Republic, Paige of the Appalachian Territorial Dominion and Morgan of the Western Commune of States all met up with an odd collection of people.

While the American Regional Factions had been fighting off the New World Order or amongst themselves. There was another region that had been lightly invaded or hadn't invaded at all. The Australian Government was one of three national governments that did not heed the order from the New World Order. Once all the fighting began, they sent troops over to Japan, where they formed an alliance. Japan had occupied Taiwan and the Philippine Islands. With the New World Order spread far too thin, Australia and Japan weren't priority targets. As their alliance bloomed, they found that most of Europe, Africa and China had succumbed to the Order. However, Russia was still putting up a decent fight, well, their civilians were. As they were forced to the coast, they fled to Japan, becoming another ally with the Japanese and Australians. However, according to Japanese Prime Minister Takebayashi, once the Order learned the news of Soros' death, Rothschild pulled his remaining two minor lords back to the UK. There, they took a plane to Russia where they had a fleet that was supposed to attack the Japanese and Australian Islands. As they set sail, the alliance thought the Order was sailing for them, so they gathered their citizens, armies, and more and shoved off. However, they stopped near an uncharted Island. That's when the Order's Fleet surpassed them, heading for California. We followed them here, all in the hopes the Americans hadn't been defeated.

"So that's when you saw us mid-battle."

"Yes, please forgive the shell we fired. We knew something had to be done against such a monster." Prime Minister Takebayashi said bowing once more.

"No need to feel bad! I actually am grateful you guys fired that shell!" The Ghost rubbed the back of neck. Most midwesterners don't like making others feel bad. Keith laughed as he watched the Ghost.

"So, now that all four American factions are here, shall we formally ally?" Paige asked as she tossed another log into the fire.

"Hold on", started Morgan, "The Midwest and South have the monopoly on people, weapons and tech. How can we be sure you won't extort us."

"It is simple, normally when we Greater Ottawan ally with anyone, we bring a list of things with us to hammer out a rough agreement before actually signing anything. However, I will say the situation here is perplexing." Began the Ghost, "While it is true the C.T.R and G.O.C hold the cards in certain areas, both you and Paige have regions that got hit extremely hard. If the numbers you gave me are right, California along with most of the West coast is no longer habitable or safe."

"That's my point. Most of our industry is technology. However, with the missile strikes and other crap that hit us, our region is rapidly being unfit for human beings to live in." Said Morgan eating a forkful of MRE pasta.

At the beginning of the attacks, Washington D.C had a huge choice to make. They'd already picked out high value target cities, but due to their lack of control and to resort to another method to cripple the West and East coasts. They opted for cluster missiles that they could control remotely. While most of the South and Midwest were spared, the Eastern and Western coasts took too much damage to remain in good service. After the missiles had done their job, D.C went dark. However, months passed and the fault lines of the West coast blew their seals. As a result, more people lost their lives and the region was rapidly destabilizing.

"This presents a problem." Began Prime Minister Takebayashi, "We can't go home either. With the Order encompassing that area, it's impossible to return without submitting to them."

Everyone looked melancholy, but the Ghost had actually planned for this.

"Looks like the Midwest will take you all in."

"Wait for real?"

"Do you even have the room for that?"

The Ghost told everyone of their expansion project and how Greater Ottawa was helping rebuild the Midwest. "We'd be willing to part with a few states, split between the W.C.S and the A.T.D. As for the Eastern Hemisphere folks, we have the territory, and room for everyone of you all."

Everyone looked at the Ghost, expecting him to say just kidding or say he was joking. However, he wasn't joking. He just smiled and stood up.

"I'm serious. I will radio back home and let them know the situation. In the meantime, we need to start packing up our things and getting ready to leave."

Keith nodded, "The Japanese, Australian, and whoever's naval vessels are welcome in any of the ports of Texas. All the smaller vessels and be transported up river to the Midwest."

The others agreed to the Ghost's proposal, and to Keith's offer. The battle ended with the four American Factions allied and the joint alliance with the Japanese, Australian and Russians.

The next day, massive diesel and steam trains arrived to bring people and equipment to Greater Ottawa. Citizens of Japan, Australia and the few Russian who survived the New World Order loaded onto steam locomotives while the three factions helped the W.C.S load up important tech, valuable research, building supplies and more.

"I'm not sure this will work, Ghost." Morgan had stopped the Ghost to talk for a moment.

"Why not? We made the offer to you."

"What about the citizens? They've lost their homes, friends, family..."

"Leave all of this to me. I've had an idea I can use to help them out. Just get them to Ottawa and I'll handle the rest."

"Are you sure?"

"Well, when I execute the plan, I'll need help from all the leaders. So far, everyone has agreed, just need an answer from you."

"I'll gladly help. Thank you for this."

"Don't sweat it." As the Ghost was heading to check on the trains, Prime Minister Takebayashi and Prime Minister William Sawkins brought over a few people.

"G'day Ghost."

"Likewise Prime Minister Sawkins, Prime Minister Takebayashi. To what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?"

"These are the people you requested from the divisions you requested them from."

"Excellent. As my Grandpa would say, "There's a project I need your help with."" The Ghost grinned knowing things would go a lot smoother for a certain project he had back in Greater Ottawa.
