Chapter 56: The Person in the Coffin, a Corpse Puppet at the Extinction Realm

Facing hundreds of wolf monsters at the Profound Sky level and a leader at the Unity level, Leng Yanran did not feel a hint of panic.

"Even if this is truly a test for the immortal legacy, so what?"

"Even if there are immortals in this world, none can compare to my master."

Yanran's confidence stemmed entirely from her master, whose power was so vast that even now, Yanran could not fathom its depths.

Her master had told her that no matter what challenges she faced, there was no need to worry.

"Awwooooo—!"

Sensing it had been belittled, the Unity-level wolf leader let out a long howl. Its subordinates, eyes glowing red, immediately coordinated to encircle Yanran.

"Tch, filthy creatures. Don't you dare soil the dress my master especially prepared for me."

Leng Yanran raised an eyebrow.

As she dodged and weaved through the attacks, she casually struck out with her palm, causing the heads of the Profound Sky wolves to shatter and their lives to be extinguished.

All the while, her steps subtly brought her closer to the Unity-level wolf leader. To avoid frightening it away, she even slowed the pace of her attacks.

Moments later, Yanran calculated the distance for her Demonic Heaven Finger and found it sufficient. Without further hesitation, she acted.

"Hmph!"

With a cold snort, her spiritual energy erupted, blowing away the wolves within ten meters, creating a clear space around her.

"Demonic Heaven Finger!"

She coldly focused her gaze on the wolf leader and pointed straight at it.

Though this leader had developed some self-awareness, it was still essentially a mindless zombie-like beast.

Its eyes, typically vacant, suddenly filled with terror upon witnessing the Demonic Heaven Finger.

Most terrifyingly, the leader found that it had lost control over its own body, unable to dodge the deadly attack.

"Awwooo..."

But soon, the wolf leader thought of a solution.

With a desperate howl, the other wolves threw themselves in front of it, sacrificing their bodies to block the Demonic Heaven Finger's strike.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Three consecutive explosions rang out as three Profound Sky wolves were completely pierced by the power of the Demonic Heaven Finger.

Yanran frowned slightly, surprised that the wolf leader was able to devise such a plan.

However, this posed no significant problem.

With her current strength, she could unleash the Demonic Heaven Finger nearly a hundred times.

Even if the wolf leader blocked each attempt, it was bound to die at her hands eventually.

Just as Yanran was preparing to unleash another Demonic Heaven Finger to subdue the leader, she noticed that the Unity-level wolf, after giving her a wary glance, had turned and fled deeper into the cave.

The remaining wolves followed their leader, abandoning their attack on her and fleeing as well.

"Hm?"

"Wasn't this supposed to be a test?"

"Why would they run away?"

Yanran was puzzled, but since she had passed the challenge, she wasn't too concerned about the details. She continued moving forward.

The hundreds of Profound Sky-level wolves, alongside a Unity-level leader, could easily destroy any force in the Northern Region, apart from the three major sects.

Even the Moro Kingdom would not be able to withstand such power.

Yet, in Leng Yanran's hands, these wolves posed no threat.

She hadn't even needed to use the trump card her master had prepared for her.

Yanran herself hadn't realized it yet, but in the short span of two to three months since becoming her master's disciple, she had transformed from a talented but relatively powerless genius at the Void Sky level into a being capable of suppressing the entire Moro Kingdom on her own.

Not long after Yanran left, Li Shenruo arrived at the battlefield where she had fought the wolf monsters.

"So many Profound Sky-level wolf corpses?"

"Seems I underestimated that witch's strength."

Li Shenruo gazed thoughtfully at the battlefield.

Over two dozen wolf corpses, all at the Profound Sky level, littered the ground.

Despite her best efforts to catch up, she had yet to overtake Yanran.

Thanks to Yanran clearing the way, Li Shenruo had managed to save a considerable amount of time. Otherwise, she would have fallen even further behind.

Realizing this, she quickened her pace again, fearing the immortal legacy might be taken before she could reach it.

...

The wolf leader continued its retreat deeper into the cave, eventually arriving at the entrance of a cavern. Leaving its Profound Sky-level subordinates outside, it entered the cavern alone.

The cavern walls were lined with pits, varying in size. Inside these pits were the corpses of various beasts.

Or rather, like the wolf monsters, they were creatures that seemed dead yet still twitched occasionally, their muscles spasming.

It was evident these creatures had been created within this cavern.

Any beast stored in these pits was at least at the Unity level.

Two particularly massive corpses emitted an aura so terrifying that even the wolf leader cowered in fear—they were at the Extinction Realm.

The wolf continued deeper into the cavern, traversing a long passage before reaching a massive chamber at the heart of the cave.

This central area had been entirely hollowed out, resembling a grand palace within the mountain.

Treasures were piled on one side like a small mountain, while countless rare materials were similarly discarded like trash.

At the center of the chamber lay a coffin made from some unknown, otherworldly wood.

"Awwooo, awwooo..."

The wolf leader approached the coffin, prostrating itself before it and delivering a report.

Rumble

The coffin slowly creaked open, and a figure sat up within.

The person's skin was a deep greenish-black, clearly not alive.

"Oh?"

"Someone dares to venture toward my lair?"

"A Profound Sky cultivator capable of unleashing Unity-level power, huh?"

"Very well, I'll deal with her. None of the cultivators who entered this realm should think about leaving alive. The time to escape this place has finally come!"

The figure in the coffin, upon hearing the wolf leader's report, remained calm.

In the past, each time the secret realm opened, some genius would emerge, capable of killing beings at higher cultivation levels. But what did it matter?

Every time, they would all die by his hands. No one had ever escaped his lair once they ventured this far.

No matter how talented they were, the two Extinction-level beasts he had cultivated would easily crush them.

Ultimately, these so-called geniuses would merely become nourishment for him to regain his freedom.

As he fantasized about breaking free from his coffin and once again dominating the world, the sound of battle from outside the cave reached his ears.

"Heh, call back your wolves. Let her in."

"I want to see the expression on her face when she encounters the corpse puppets I've nurtured for millennia."

Upon hearing the command from the coffin, the wolf leader let out a long howl, summoning its subordinates back into the cave.

Naturally, the one fighting the wolves outside was Leng Yanran, who had arrived first.

"So, this cave is the second trial?"

"What a joke. This so-called 'Immortal Palace' reeks of death."
