Chapter 76: The Hongmeng Ruler Unleashed – Don’t Be in Such a Hurry to Leave

Hearing the words of the Ren Family Ancestral Patriarch, the others quickly came to a realization.

Such a terrifying attack—it was impossible to endure head-on. However, using an Artifact to defend against it was somewhat plausible!

Even the Palace Master of the Xiaoyao Palace and the three elders of Holy Mountain present dared not claim they could withstand the attack empowered by the Five-Star Array Flag on their own!

Naturally, they wouldn't believe that someone from the remote Northern Region could achieve such a feat either.

To the cultivators from the Eastern Region, the Northern Region had always been seen as a backwater. Even if there were strong individuals, they were merely slightly larger ants in their eyes.

Yet, after witnessing Chen Daoxuan's performance, some of them began to reconsider. Whether it was due to an Artifact or not, he indeed possessed power that warranted serious attention.

"You there! That Artifact of yours, capable of resisting the Five-Star Array Flag, must not be reusable, right?"

"Even if you can block one attack, how will you handle the next?"

"Hmph! In this barren land of the Northern Region, I refuse to believe you have more treasures of that caliber!"

The Ren Family Ancestral Patriarch was convinced of his judgment. Even if Chen Daoxuan had an Artifact, how many times could he use it?

"Water Formation!"

With another wave of his formation flag, a water qilin materialized, exuding an aura no less terrifying than the previous fire dragon. A moist chill swept over the area, causing everyone present to feel an oppressive cold.

As the Ren Family Ancestral Patriarch waved the flag, the water qilin roared toward the sky before charging at Chen Daoxuan with a deafening howl, treading on mist.

All eyes turned to Chen Daoxuan, eager to see if he could once again produce a treasure capable of resisting the Five-Star Array Flag.

"An Artifact?"

"Come to think of it, I do have one. Thanks for reminding me!"

Chen Daoxuan showed no panic as the water qilin closed in. Instead, his eyes brightened.

An Artifact? Indeed, he had one!

Had it not been for their reminder, he might have forgotten about it entirely.

This seemed like the perfect opportunity to test its power.

With a wave of his hand, a simple, unassuming ruler appeared in his grasp. Yet the dense aura of primal chaos emanating from it made it clear that this was no ordinary object.

On the ruler's surface, the characters Hong Meng (Primordial Chaos) were engraved—this was none other than the Hongmeng Ruler, a Karmic Artifact he had obtained from his starter pack!

The ruler's power wasn't its strongest feature. Its most terrifying aspect was its unique trait: it killed without incurring karma!

As Chen Daoxuan had taught his disciples, excessive killing could lead to karmic entanglements, making one vulnerable to inner demons and weakening their fortune in the future.

But with the Hongmeng Ruler, a Karmic Artifact, he could kill without accruing any karmic debt!

By now, the water qilin had reached him.

The terrifying aura emanating from it caused the barrier set up by the three elders of Holy Mountain behind Chen Daoxuan to ripple violently, a testament to its fearsome power.

The Northern Region spectators had never seen such a terrifying attack. Many sect elders hastily reinforced their protective barriers, fearing the residual shockwaves might harm their disciples.

Everyone stared intently at Chen Daoxuan.

He produced a ruler that gave no indication of its grade, wore a calm smile, placed his left hand behind his back, and raised the ruler in his right hand, tapping it gently on the water qilin's head.

His posture was reminiscent of a teacher disciplining a student.

"Has this guy lost his mind...?"

"Does he really think he can fend off the Five-Star Array Flag's water qilin with such a casual gesture?"

The crowd shook their heads in disbelief.

The water qilin's oppressive aura alone was already so intimidating; how powerful would its full attack be?

Yet Chen Daoxuan seemed completely unbothered, as if he had already resigned himself to failure.

Only one person looked at him with unwavering confidence after he pulled out the Hongmeng Ruler: Leng Yanran.

She had seen the true power of the Hongmeng Ruler before.

Just moments ago, she panicked; now, Leng Yanran realizes her foolishness

Her master was an extraordinary being—one capable of resurrecting the dead to interrogate them. How could someone like that be challenged by the likes of the Ren family?

Provoking her master was truly courting death.

Moreover, since her master had already unleashed such a divine artifact, the Ren family was undoubtedly doomed. Leng Yanran just wondered if they might even receive the same "all-inclusive redemption package" as Ren Qirui.

The Hongmeng Ruler descended lightly onto the head of the water qilin.

Pop

With a soft sound, the water qilin burst apart like a water balloon.

"What... what just happened!?"

"How could the water qilin just disappear like that after such a gentle tap!?"

"What is going on here!?"

Everyone had been eagerly waiting to see the water qilin's terrifying power and how Chen Daoxuan would struggle to resist it.

Instead, the lightly delivered strike from the ruler left them all stunned. They began to doubt if the water qilin even had any real power—was it merely for show?

Some speculated the Ren Family Ancestral Patriarch might have been holding back, planning to capture Chen Daoxuan alive.

However, glancing at the Ancestral Patriarch himself, they saw his face was as shocked as theirs, his expression betraying complete confusion about what had just transpired.

"You are..."

The Ren Family Ancestral Patriarch began to ask in horror how Chen Daoxuan had managed such a feat.

But before he could finish speaking, his eyes widened, his body trembling uncontrollably.

In his vision, Chen Daoxuan—standing with the Hongmeng Ruler in hand, tall and serene—now seemed like a towering colossus, a divine instructor towering over the heavens and realms.

It was as though the supreme teacher of sages and saints held a disciplinary ruler, and he was but a student about to face punishment.

The Ancestral Patriarch desperately wanted to flee. He wanted to escape back to the Ren family in the Eastern Region—no, farther! As far away from Chen Daoxuan as possible!

Yet, all he could do was tremble uncontrollably. He was utterly paralyzed, like a terrified student awaiting their teacher's punishment.

This strike from the ruler was incomprehensibly dreadful. Only those directly facing it could understand its true terror. To others, it appeared as if Chen Daoxuan had merely waved the ruler casually toward the patriarch.

"Pfft!"

The Ren Family Ancestral Patriarch spewed a mouthful of blood as his aura rapidly diminished.

It was as if all the vitality in his body had dissipated with the seemingly careless wave of Chen Daoxuan's ruler.

"Sacrifice! I demand a sacrifice!"

The Ancestral Patriarch roared in desperation, forcing his faltering body upright. He began draining the life force of the four elders by his side.

"Aaagh—"

"Ancestral Patriarch, no! Please!"

The four elders screamed in agony as their bodies withered visibly, reduced to skin and bone, barely clinging to life.

"I must escape! This man is too terrifying!"

With renewed vigor from his vile act, the Ancestral Patriarch prepared to use a secret art to flee.

But just as he turned, he froze in sheer terror—Chen Daoxuan was already standing behind him.

"Old man, don't be in such a rush to leave. I have some heartfelt words to share with you."
