Chapter 63

Darius's POV

Today is my baby girl's first day of school, and I've decided to make it all about her. You can judge me all you want for lurking in the back of the classroom, probably making every other kid uncomfortable, but let me be clear: my daughter is here, and her well-being trumps anyone else's comfort right now.

The teacher has shot me the "get out" glare at least a dozen times, her face practically twitching with frustration. I get it—she's trying to keep the class on track, but I couldn't care less. My focus is on Dora, who's seated up front, completely unphased by my presence or anyone else's. She's locked in on whatever's projected on the screen, her tiny frame sitting straight with her full attention on the lesson.
