Chapter 98

Darius' POV

No one can blame me for wanting to get away from Allison. This moment is precarious for both of us—not just because we shared something intimate, but because our lives are on the line. I need to think, to strategize. And around her, I can't think straight.

So here I am, holed up in a hotel—not the vacation house I lied to Zain about. More importantly, I'm here to meet someone I've recently started talking to, someone with enemies that mirror my own.

Grenade.

Yes. When she first reached out two days ago, I didn't believe it was really her. But now, as I sit here waiting, it all starts making sense. Her father has discarded her the moment he met Allison—cut her out of his Will, erased her from his private dealings like she never mattered at all.

It's brutal. I still don't fully trust her, but something makes me agree to hear her out. That's why I've layered this hotel room with booby traps. If she tries anything, she's done.
