Chapter 108

Darius POV

My head is spinning in my ears—if that even makes sense—but that's exactly how it feels. Like my skull is caving in from the inside, a pressure so tight it could shatter me. I can already see my life ending. This hopelessness is thick, suffocating, like I'm drowning in it. Maybe this is it. Maybe this is how I go. Like Zain. Gone. Just like that. Everything he was, everything he could have been—wiped out.

"Hello? Are you there?" Jessica snaps her fingers in front of my face, yanking me back to the horror unfolding. Her voice is a saw against my skull. "Of course you are. Your girl seems a little rattled by the game. Says she doesn't know how it works. So I had an idea." She smirks, eyes gleaming with cruelty. "Let's change roles. You pull the trigger. That'll hurt more. Let *you* be the one to pull the gun on her. Now that's poetic."

"What? No! You said *she* kills *him*," Jeremiah blurts, panic lacing his voice.
