Zhang Lian stood quietly, her mind was still thinking. Cat's words echoed in her thoughts, growing stronger with each passing moment.
Cat is right, she realized, her blue eyes shining with determination. To escape this pain, the mortal life, I must first endure. I need to let go of my softness & it's not like you get opportunities like this in every life.
With this in mind, she grabbed a plain white robe from the closet. After pulling it out she started putting it on, the fabric flowed down her soft and white body, but as she was about to tie her belt.
Cat, flying nearby. Its small form floated in the air, deep in thought, before its eyes lit up with excitement. "Nya! I've got it!" it shouted.
Zhang Lian paused, her fingers resting on the belt of her robe as she was tying it around her wrist, her face still in thought.
She glanced at Cat, "What is it?" she asked, her voice calm & serious.
Cat's tone shifted to a more serious one. "Nyaa, have you been having strange thoughts recently? Like feelings you didn't have, or idea's that suddenly changed?"
The cat lazily pointed toward Chen Gou, who sat on the bed, naked, watching Zhang Lian's every movement with his innocent expression.
Chen Gou watched Zhang Lian as she put on her robe, her blue eyes lost in thought. His heart raced as he looked at how her silky white hair clung to her neck as water droplets sliding from there and shoulders, still wet from her bath.
Her slender figure, the curve of her waist, and the gentle movements of her hips attracted him. He couldn't look away, enchanted by how the robe fit her body.
The way she moved was mesmerizing—her hands gliding over the fabric, her fingers adjusting the knot, and each step drawing him in further. A warm feeling spread in his chest.
Zhang Lian felt Chen Gou's creepy gaze on her, but instead of feeling disgusted she felt something softer inside of her heart.
Her thoughts wandered: was his presence really affecting her this much? She frowned slightly, a small change in her expression, and turned back to Cat.
"Yes… I've noticed," she replied, her voice softer and more thoughtful. "I've been having feelings that don't seem like my own, especially after sex and becoming pregnant."
Cat's floated closer. "Nya, I knew it!" it exclaimed. "It's because of him—Chen Gou."
Zhang Lian looked at Chen Gou. How could such an ordinary-looking man cause such a change in her feelings? She found it hard to believe, yet here she was, doubting everything.
"Really?" Zhang Lian asked, her voice filled with disbelief as she thought deeply about him. Her confusion was evident, but a small part of her— a part she disliked—recognized there was some truth in Cat's words.
How else could she explain the change in her thoughts? A wave of annoyance washed over her. Was this all Chen Gou's influence?
Cat floated nearby, nodding. "Yes, nya. It's his luck—his special luck. People like him, with unique qualities, carry blessings of heaven that can affect others in ways they don't even realize."
The cat pointed at Zhang Lian's stomach, suggesting, "You're already carrying his child, and your thoughts are becoming more vulnerable as your bond is deepening. It's no surprise your feelings are changing, Nya."
"Nya, Being around him is softening your heart. But if you want to regain control, you must fight these emotions."
Zhang Lian's hand moved to her stomach, her eyes grazing the soft fabric of her robe. Her blue eyes darkened as she glanced back at Chen Gou, who was watching her with a mix of admiration and something deeper—an emotion she didn't want to acknowledge.
Could it really be him? she thought, her mind racing. The idea that this innocent, ugly boy could influence her was frustrating.
"Nyaa," Cat interrupted her thoughts again, "if you want to fight these feelings, you need to be more ruthless and cold. But," the cat continued, "you can't just eliminate him. Not with your current power, Nya."
"He's favored by heaven, after all, nya.
"You should send him away for now, stick to your path, or if you want full protection from people like this you just need to spend 5 SP to shield yourself from influences like his."
Cat pointed at her stomach again, "And it will also break any ties or bond formed through this boy. The system will keep you safe, nya for just 5 SP."
Zhang Lian felt a tightness in her heart at the thought. Break the bond? Cut ties with him? It was a harsh idea, one that hurt more than she expected for some reason.
But Cat's advice was logical—she needed to stay focused, to remember her true goal: to escape the endless cycle of suffering. "Wait," she asked, in a serious voice, "how is he affecting my feelings in the first place?"
Cat nodded, seeming prepared for the question. "Nya, those with special physics bodies are lucky, as I mentioned. They encounter significant challenges in their life's, but their good fortune often attracts strong women.
The more time you spend with him, the more your feelings will evolve. Random thoughts and desires—things you wouldn't usually think about—will come up. But for just 5sp, the system can shield you from this, at least till the Qi Refining stage."
Zhang Lian crossed her arms, feeling irritated. " 5 more SP?" she whispered to herself.
She hadn't gained a single SP since the system appeared, and now she was down to nine. If she spent five more, she would only have four left. How much worse could this get?
She thought with bitterness, but deep down, she realized this was essential. She couldn't be affected by feelings or emotions that weren't truly hers to achieve her goals.
With a firm nod, she consented. "Alright," she said, her voice filled with irritation due to losing 5 SP. "Do it."
