I couldn't shake the thought, no matter how many times Daisy told me I was overthinking it. It had been a week since I stumbled upon his bizarrely perfect medical report, and the idea had burrowed into my brain like an annoying earworm. My spirits were so low that you could practically limbo under them, and my productivity at work took a nosedive. Daisy's pep talks and endless assurances that I was being paranoid did little to help. I needed professional help.

I made an appointment with Dr. Elena Hayes, a highly recommended psychiatrist, and found myself sitting in her office two days later. The room was designed to be comforting: soft lighting, plush chairs, and walls adorned with serene landscapes. I felt like I was in a cross between a therapist's office and a high-end spa.
