The commanding tone with which Aiden asked this brought me back to my senses.

“Oh, I’m so sorry!” I blurted, scrambling to get up but only managing to entangle myself further in the awkward position. My mind was racing. Of course, I had to trip right in front of Aiden.

Before I could fully extricate myself, I saw Aiden striding toward us with furious determination. His eyes were like twin storm clouds, dark and intense. He didn’t say a word, and he wasn’t ready to listen to an explanation either; he just lifted me off Ansel with surprising ease and whisked me out of the café.
