Chapter 77

There was a reason I read children's educational comic books.

I thought I might learn new knowledge unique to this world.

"Hmm..."

Something big seemed similar, but the details were different.

I found myself focusing on the comic book, captivated by the occasional new knowledge.

"Gyeoul, is the book interesting?"

"Yes. It's quite interesting. I didn't go to school, so there's a lot I don't know."

"Is that so?"

"Yes."

It wasn't a lie that I hadn't attended school.

After all, I had never been to a school in this world.

I felt ashamed that I didn't know much, but it was nice to have an excuse for my lack of common knowledge.

"Hmm... Gyeoul, do you want to go to school?"

School, huh.

They say there's no age for learning, but I didn't want to go to school now.

I shook my head so much that my ears wobbled.

"I'm fine. I prefer studying on my own."

"Uh, okay. Then, if you come across something you don't understand while studying, ask your unni, okay?"

"Okay..."

I wondered if there would be anything I didn't understand in a children's educational comic.

It was totally for kids, so I could understand even the new concepts at first glance.

Just when my pride was hurt and I buried my face in the comic book, I came across a concept I really couldn't understand.

'Pode?'

What on earth is a pode?

It was supposed to be a simple concept if it was in a children's comic, but it was the first time I had seen the word since I was born in this world.

I glanced at Yeoreum and cautiously asked her.

"What's a pode...?"

"A pode is a unit used for measuring weight."

"Weight? Isn't it grams...?"

"Yes. Generally, we use grams, but pode is a unit used exclusively in one country abroad."

"Ah."

So, there's another country like America in this world.

Now that I think about it, pode does sound a bit like pound.

"Hehe, maybe it's still too difficult for Gyeoul?"

"It's not that difficult..."

Saying that to someone reading a children's comic book sounded a little sarcastic.

Of course, I knew Yeoreum meant no harm, so I decided not to take it to heart.

"I'll buy you more educational books later..."

"Kyah!"

Before Yeoreum could finish her sentence, Levinas let out a small scream next to her.

I quickly turned to Levinas, only to find her with a portable game console in her hands.

"Levinas?"

"King! Levinas just died!"

"Ah, okay."

She had died in the game, that's all.

I breathed a sigh of relief inwardly.

"But King, what does 'shameless' mean?"

"Sha-shameless?"

Everyone in the room, including me, showed their confusion.

Even Sophia and Choi Jinhyuk were concerned.

"Yes! Someone in the game called Levinas 'shameless'! Levinas is not a dog, but a horned rabbit?!"

"How did you end up hearing that...?"

"I was healing a monster that was about to die! And then they called Levinas a 'shameless'!"

"Oh no."

Healing a monster that was supposed to be caught.

Levinas, being young, must have acted with pure intentions, but in the game, it could definitely be considered a malicious act.

"Levinas, that's..."

Just as Yeoreum was expressing her dismay,

Levinas began to clumsily type in the chat.

She let them know she was actually a horned rabbit, not understanding that could be seen as a provocation.

-Where do you live?

"Suddenly asking where we live...! Maybe they want to be friends with Levinas?!"

Was she happy at the thought of making a friend?

Levinas looked at me with sparkling eyes, her innocence only making the situation more awkward.

"Levinas, they are angry at you."

"Angry? They're angry at Levinas?"

"Yes. That person said something bad."

Bad words.

Levinas tilted her head in confusion at those short words.

"'Shameless'?"

"Uh, yes. That's a bad word."

"Why is 'shameless' a bad word? Isn't it talking about baby dogs?"

"That's..."

How should I explain this?

I decided to explain it based on experience.

"People say that bad word when they hit me."

"While saying 'shameless'...?"

"Uh, yes..."

"Wow! Then it's definitely a bad word!"

Levinas, startled, looked back at the game screen.

Feeling satisfied that I had explained it well, I looked around at the others, only to find their complexions had turned pale, including the normally composed Sophia.

'What's wrong?'

Did I explain something incorrectly?

Just as I was trying to recall, Levinas began typing in the chat again.

"You're a fool."

-What, you bastard?

"You're a very bad snake, a fool and a snake."

Was that the most insulting thing Levinas could think of?

It felt somewhat cute, but I couldn't let her go down a bad path.

"Let's stop, Levinas."

"But this person started by saying bad things to Levinas!"

Although Levinas was the first to do something questionable.

I wanted to explain properly, but I also wanted to protect Levinas's innocence.

That kind heart of hers, healing monsters that were meant to be caught.

"You don't always have to fight when you meet bad people."

"Okay! I understand!"

Levinas looked down at her game console, puffing up.

She was leaving a farewell message for the other party.

"Bye, bad snake."

-Hey, you bastard! Where do you live?!

The next morning,

I was moving busier than usual.

I planned to work harder today to make up for all the time I wasted lazing around the day before.

"Ugh."

Even so, reading over ten comic books in a day was excessive.

I was so ashamed of myself for just playing and eating without doing any work.

I decided to work non-stop for about a year from now on.

Just then, Yeoreum approached me.

"Gyeoul, did you wake up an hour earlier today?"

"Yes. I think I played too much yesterday. I think I need to work for about a year from now on."

"Really...?"

Yeoreum stared at me, her mouth agape.

She opened and closed her mouth as if she wanted to say something.

"It was the first time in my life I played that much."

"Hmm... How much did we play yesterday?"

"We played for almost five hours."

To think we played for five hours.

That's a lot of time that could have been spent doing so many things.

Just as I was getting frustrated, I heard someone shouting nearby.

"Where is the horned rabbit!"

It was an angry woman's voice.

Although it was common to see angry people in the park, the words she spat out caught my attention.

"Horned rabbit?"

In the park, Levinas was the only horned rabbit.

Why is a woman I've never seen before looking for Levinas?

Wondering, I looked up at Yeoreum, and she blinked back at me.

"Did she come looking for Levinas...?"

"Yes. Seems like it."

Yeoreum stroked her chin in response to my answer.

Then, she poked my shoulder.

"Gyeoul."

"Yes?"

"I'll hide and watch, so can you go out first?"

"Me, alone?"

To face such a scary person by myself?

I instinctively shook my head.

"It's because the attitude of the other person changes when I'm around."

"Ah..."

So, she meant to hide to see the other person's true intentions.

Because the moment they see Yeoreum, they might get intimidated.

"If it looks like something is about to happen, I'll come out and help right away."

"Okay. Will you come out before I get hit...?"

"Uh, yeah. If someone tries to hit Gyeoul, I won't stand by."

"Okay..."

If Yeoreum says so, I guess I don't need to worry.

But why is that person so angry?

As I nervously approached her, Levinas suddenly popped out from somewhere.

"I'm the horned rabbit!"

Horned rabbit.

Wasn't that Levinas's game ID from yesterday?

'Could it be...?'

A real-life confrontation?

I hurriedly ran towards Levinas.

<+>

Kwon Arin.

She dreamed of becoming an adventurer but started obsessing over games after despairing over her poor talent.

After all, games rewarded her as much as she put effort into them.

Her adventurer rank had been at the bottom for years, but she had reached the top rank in most of the games she played.

She hoped to feel satisfied by achieving a high rank in this newly released game as well.

But her mood was ruined by one damn troll.

"HornedRabbitRabbit, this f*cker, said they were at Yeomyeong Park."

Even as the lowest-ranked adventurer, she could easily crush an ordinary person.

And most people she met in games were ordinary people.

Damn bastard.

She'd have to teach them a lesson.

But Kwon Arin couldn't help but freeze in front of "HornedRabbitRabbit."

"You, you're HornedRabbitRabbit?"

"Yeah! Why did you say bad things to Levinas!"

A child.

Moreover, a beast-kin child under national protection.

Kwon Arin, who had a bit of gaming sense, finally realized what was happening.

'Could it be...?'

Was it just because she felt sorry for the monster dying that she healed it?

It was entirely possible, given the innocence of a child.

'She was an actual horned rabbit?'

Kwon Arin could see the small horns on the child's forehead.

And the perky rabbit ears.

No matter where she looked, it was a horned rabbit beast-kin.

Kwon Arin's mouth dropped open without realizing it.

"SupremeMasterKwonArin! Why did you say bad things to Levinas!"

SupremeMasterKwonArin.

That was her game id.

When she heard it called out in front of everyone, she blushed.

"Hey, hey..."

That was when someone tugged at the hem of her clothes.

It was a girl who looked like Winter itself, with white cat ears.

<+>

Tn: Shameless and puppy/baby dog sound similar, which is why Levinas thought that she's called as a pup.
