Finally

"Come on, let's go introduce you to someone very special to me," Chris said as he grabbed Emily's hand and walked towards a house. Things had normalised a little after Jackson's death. Although the danger was still looming, they could have some fun.

As they walked, Emily's heart raced. The danger that had loomed after Jackson's death was still palpable, but for a moment, they were free to enjoy life again. The fresh scent of pine filled the air, and she couldn't help but notice how the cabins and small buildings created a charming village vibe, reminiscent of a scene from a storybook.

"I want you to meet my mum. She's going to love you."

His words did little to calm her nerves. Emily started chewing on her bottom lip, a nervous habit she couldn't shake.

"Hey, don't worry," Chris said, sensing her anxiety. He squeezed her hand reassuringly. "My mum is the sweetest person you'll ever meet. Just be yourself, okay?"
