MAX POV
I was wrapping up some reports in the office, the hum of the fluorescent lights and the soft tapping of my keyboard my only company. It was late, and the building was eerily quiet. I preferred it this way—fewer distractions, more focus. But as I was about to call it a night, the sudden, shrill sound of the server room alarm shattered the silence.
My heart skipped a beat. Alarms at this hour meant trouble, and a security breach was the last thing I needed. I jumped up from my chair, adrenaline kicking in as I headed towards the server room.
The alarm was blaring, a persistent wail that seemed to echo through the empty corridors. I sprinted down the hallway, my mind racing through all the possible scenarios. Had someone managed to bypass our security systems? Or was this a false alarm? Either way, it was my job to find out.
