Wings of Inquisition

Leo tried to recall what he knew about this constellation.

it's strange. How do I remember nothing about this Wings of Inquisition? Is it because it was some minor constellation from Heaven?

Being in the Heavenly Sect for many years, Leo naturally knew the ins and outs of Heaven. He didn't know everything, but all of the important people and places along with a few secrets here and there were known by him.

All the credits for the secrets went to his young miss. That lady could not contain the secret in her stomach for long and would always divulge it in front of him while saying, "Hey, don't tell anyone what I'm about to tell you. So…"

If the sentence started with that, then it was something important that was better left confidential. However,

"Leo Leo Leo… do you know, do you know, do you know…"

If words were repeated thrice, then it was extremely confidential information that should never be spoken. Sensitive information like the first rule of fi— well, anyway, that was that, and this was how Leo got to know about Heaven.

Every day of the regression was a new mystery with many questions popping up and piling up, the answers to which were hard to come up with without any leads.

Other than the sponsor thing, there was the '????(bounded)' that Leo had no idea of. What was that and what was it doing in the items menu?

Lost in thoughts, the crawling centipedes eventually broke Leo's immersion and brought him to the edge of pain and misery, making him almost curse his own constellation.

The day eventually ended with the lights getting turned off and his mother and elder sister sleeping with their heads resting on the bed's side. They were seated on stools and the position seemed quite uncomfortable.

Haiz… please get up, mom, Leya. I'm totally fine!

Despite having a thousand centipedes crawling on his soul, Leo thought of those words. If he could speak, he would've definitely said them out loud.

Leo still had no idea who this new sponsor of his was. Sponsors were something he had no control over as anyone could sponsor anyone. Though, they would only appear on the system tab if they were the primary sponsors and approved by both the contracted constellation and their incarnation.

For a second, Leo assumed that his constellation may have approved, but he had no recollection of ever approving Wings of Inquisition or even getting a prompt regarding it. When did all of this happen?

The day did not end without another question popping up and the mist of mystery getting thicker.

Leo mentally sighed and decided to forget about it. He had no control over it for now, so brooding over it would only stress him.

Since the sponsor was kind enough to give two Flare Tokens, Leo decided to use it on the two people closest to him.

With a single thought, the two Flare Tokens were used.

Two bright golden orbs flew out of Leo's Mind Sea and hovered about the two sleeping green-haired ladies.

Leya's knitted brows eased considerably and her breathing evened while Anne relaxed her shoulders and slept more peacefully.

Leo cursed the crawling centipedes and controlled himself from cursing his own constellation, then tried to sleep a bit.

…..

10th of Umbrus, 457.

The kids resorting to cannibalism did not wake up the next day. The main family officials injected them with poison through the help of the Lynch Family's healers.

News broke out on this day that Leo was not crippled. He was unconscious, but otherwise fine.

Viren's father and Emmett, who were seated together around a coffee table, felt even more depressed after hearing the news. How could a boy who did not even have a pure bloodline survive but their children didn't?

The two depressed fathers could not understand their situation properly. And setting aside their personal enmity for now, they went ahead to meet Nicholas, Yu's father, who was probably in a worse situation than them and needed consolation.

No parent could watch their child be ill, let alone be dead. Losing a child took everything from a man and the mental instability was something that couldn't be fixed with mere words. Still, in these grieving times, Viren's father and Emmett decided to put their internal conflicts aside and be there for Nicholas who just lost his child.

Meanwhile, Leo was shifted from the Ignis Archipelago to Tryst Estate in Silver City. How that ended up happening was a mystery to everyone involved as the Patriarch himself had instructed all the kids involved in this ceremony to be at the archipelago until further notice.

…..

Next day.

11th of Umbrus, 457.

All hell broke loose.

Two corpses were found in a secluded area of the archipelago.

They belonged to the two rising stars of the main family — Viren and Brendon.

The two youngsters, who were supposedly crippled for life and told that they would never be able to cultivate, sneaked out of their rooms at the witching hour of the night, unbeknownst to anyone and met at this secluded area.

They both shared the same vial of poison and had a painless death.

Upon further investigations, it was found out that they stole vials of poison from the Lynch Family's healers that had made an appearance in the archipelago.

From this day forth, the Lynch Family was extra careful when moving out to help others. They were also forbidden from bringing any poison with them to the territories of other families, and their reputation took a slight hit from this.

Regardless of which, the Lynch Family only shared their condolences to the Ignis Family and did not comment much on the stolen poison situation.

In the Ignis Family, Nicholas was depressed as is, but joining him now were Viren's father and Emmett, who just lost their sons.

The three fathers felt themselves to be the only people in the world who could understand each other. They continued to cry on each others' shoulders and tried to make sense of the situation while trying to suppress their intensifying agony.

Later in the day, a lot more suicide cases were reported, and this marked the second black day in history of the Ignis Family.

The remaining children were being closely monitored after this incident, and each child had at least two guards around them. The family did not want any more blood to be shed, and even the crippled ones were being looked after with great care.

…..

12th of Umbrus, 457.

A health update on all the remaining children was given out.

One thing that everyone noticed in this report was that the child who did not even have a pure bloodline was not dead. There was nothing that stated he was alive, but there was nothing that stated he was dead either. The bastard child of Patrick was fighting a life and death battle, the outcome of which was unknown to all.

The three depressed fathers of the family, having learnt of this information, finally stopped crying and had some rationality and clarity come back to them.

The three felt something amiss. Their children had died, but this boy, who did not even have a pure bloodline, was not in the same situation. From what the sources said, he wasn't crippled either. And a proof of the same thing were their own eyes.

When the children came out of their awakening ceremonies, being taken away on a stretcher, the fathers had a glimpse of Leo. He definitely wasn't crippled as he gave off a rich and evened out aura, unlike their children who were in complete disarray.

As the boy had not woken up yet, the three fathers could not come to any conclusion. However, having found this clue, they wanted to know how exactly this boy survived or what exactly caused their children to be reduced to such a state.

On this day, the three went to the authorities of the family to have a discussion on this matter.

Meanwhile, back in Silver City, Leo was back home. He was being taken care of by his mother and sister while suffering extreme pain on his soul.

Everyday was hell, and today, it was more so as the centipedes were mercilessly biting him instead of just crawling.

Constellation! God! Senior! Please listen! I'm sorry… I'm sorry, okay? I shouldn't have said such chuuni words back there in front of everybody! Senior please forgive me and cancel this penalty!
