No time to think! Students aren't allowed weapons in the room but whatever is going on has Cor needing to find something to defend himself with.
Now that a situation like this occurs it really sinks in how important a weapon is to nature survivalists. When monsters are nearby you really want something to hold to fight with instead of your fleshy human hands!
But now is not the time to ponder. Cor grabs his bed. He always thought the wood on it was poorly stuck together since so many students fell through it every year (him included eith his large body),but now that he was searching for a weapon that was perfect! After all the wood itself is strong, but the fragile connections between the pieces makes it so that he can just-
CRACK
-Break a piece off. Now, with a piece of wood of around 1,5 meters in hand (he broke one of the pieces in the width of the bed off), it is time to start assesing the situation carefully.
Looking through the hole in his door, Cor could still not see much except for some shadows on the wall, reflecting the chaos that was going on about 2 rooms besides his.
He also heard some doors opening. However, some of those sounds where followed by more screams and more sounds of fighting from said directions so Cor decided to still wait a little.
By this time Cor started becoming more calm under the situation. After all, the students like him where trained for these types of situations! This allowed him to realize two things at the same time. First of all, it made no sense that monsters managed to get into the heart of the NCS, and even if that was ignored the teachers and guards should already have arrived since the alarm started around 2 minutes ago now. After all, guards where stationed pretty much everywhere at night especially for situations like these.
This realization lead to a second one, this one much more dreadfull. The people supposed to protect them where busy with bigger threats! Or in the worst case scenario they where in on the attack, but that is pretty much impossible as it's impossible to control monsters.
That made Cor start thinking about how to survive. By now some rooms where getting chewed open by the monsters. They looked a bit like big rats, big enough to reach a humans chest while standing on their hind legs.
And that's exactly what happened to the first person that Cor managed to spot in the chaos. One of the poor students that wanted to check the situation by opening his door got bitten in his chest en thrown out of his room right in front of Cor's room allowing him to see it happen as the student got attacked by two other rats simultaneously that quickly killed him by biting his neck until they hit an artery.
This sight of course shocked Cor to his core. He would not soon forget it. However currently he had more pressing business to adress. Cor is no fool, he knew the rats would see him and open his room door. Fortifying his room by placing his bed to his door would only trap him. Thus, he had to rush through the group of rats, in the hope that he could slip out of the chaos and go somewhere safer (if there even is somewhere safe).
