Not Getting Along

"Approaching Planet Gelos in approximately 10,000 miles," Luisa reminded, as everyone could see the huge icy planet in front of them.

"Which planet are we heading to first for the maps, Zarah?" Valdis asked, her hands on her waist as she faced her group.

"Can we eat something first? We just woke up, Valdis."

Valdis glared at Maddox, but she sighed and took Davy's bag of stolen food, and threw it to Maddox. "Eat while we discuss. We have a lot of things to do and to plan. There's no free pass in Exoshelm. We have heard that whoever went there never came back. We must have plans."

"Yeah, that and the fact that we need to go from planet to planet to find the maps and know exactly where on that huge and dangerous planet the Batu Enerhia is located," Piotr added.

He was lying on the sofa with his feet up as if he owned it. Davy told him not to sit like that because it might break. Piotr was a huge man, and he had heavy muscles that it concerned him, but he just wouldn't listen.

Who was the boss? They are, of course.

Maybe it was because he was not used to mingling with other people, either humans or aliens, that Davy had sour face observing them. But he could not voice out his criticism.

Zarah and Maddox were seated on the floor, while Valdis was pacing back and forth. Davy could tell that Valdis was the type of person who would think of every possible scenario in advance. She was just thinking about everything, even the littlest detail and Davy wondered how she could do that.

If it were him, he would have probably hibernated for a whole week if he would think the whole day. Thinking about things was stressful! He could just let Luisa do that for him.

He wondered why they were so obsessed with this stone, though. They would wish for something, yes, but what and why do they want it this bad?

"First stop is Planet Merth," Zarah said, their old, worn-out, and one-drop-of-water-it-would break, map of probably planets was already laid on the floor.

Davy watched them as they gathered around it. Since he was basically stripped of the right to speak, even when he wanted to ask what they were doing, he just stayed silent and suited himself by observing them. He could hear them, though, so he was still able to know what they were talking about and their plans.

Really, being held and controlled by four thieves wasn't what he expected would happen to him.

"Planet Merth? What's with that planet?" Maddox asked, munching the dried fish that he found inside the bag. "And what do we need to find there? Can't we skip those planets and go straight to Exoshlem?"

"Are you stupid?" Piotr glared at him. The way he looked at him was asking if he was really with them all this time because Maddox didn't know their plans. "It is necessary to follow the steps that our great ancestors had created for us to follow. Aside from the fact that we could get something from them, the most important thing is that we have to go to these planets because they were holding the clues about where on the Exoshelm the Batu Enerhia is exactly."

"Really?" Maddox replied, sounding very uninterested. "This dried fish is good. Try them."

Piotr groaned while the two women rolled their eyes. Davy, however, heeded Maddox's word and went to his bag and took a plastic of dried fish. He ran like he was competing with someone. He was hungry, and the bag of stolen food from the exploding planet was apparently very different from what earthlings eat. The dried seafood was actually the most passable food he had gotten.

"Anyways, where are we?" Valdis asked, giving Maddox a quick glare before she looked at the map in front again. "Zarah, where exactly are we?"

Zarah leaned forward and traced the map using her pointing finger. She stopped at some point and said, "We're here, and Exoshelm is there. We have a total of six planets to stop by, and I am sure it will take more time than we think."

"We're completely off the route to Exoshelm." Valdis glared at Davy. "Tell whoever is behind this aircraft not to decide by herself. After landing on that planet, go straight to Planet Merth."

"I didn't know how to control it. My father arranged everything to its complex settings and until now I'm not in the middle of discovering what it can or cannot do. If anything, this is programmed for my safety."

His father did not leave any manual on how to run Luisa. When Davy touched the door, it automatically opened and powered up and then Luisa introduced herself. All that he needed to do was tell her the destination and everything that the system could do.

"That's definitely awesome. Are people on your planet smart?" Zarah asked, her shining eyes looking around his aircraft.

She was cute. Davy thought.

Davy's face turned sour. "I guess they are, but they are all greedy and envious. There is competition there, and chaos. That's why I left and decided to just live in space. If I only knew I would have been held captive by four thieves, I would have stayed."

Of course, that was a lie. These alien thieves seemed to have been more decent than the people on Earth. These people just steal, while the people on Earth steal and kill. It was safer in the uncertainty of the universe than it was on that planet.

"Why are you avoiding the sentinels, then? Are you a thief, too?" Maddox asked, once again munching something, however disgusting that food might be. He just wouldn't last a minute without munching on something.

"No. I have my own way of negotiating. The reason behind avoiding sentinels is a secret. If you don't trust me, then I don't trust you either." Davy shrugged at them, grinning like he just said the most proper come back he could ever say to them.

Valdis visibly rolled her eyes. "If he isn't a thief, either he is a murderer or an escaped prisoner on his planet."

"Hey, I'm not! They're after me because they want to steal my aircraft. Aircraft Luminous 415 is the most advanced aircraft ever on our planet. That's the reason why they are after me, they want to steal this from me and I cannot let that happen because this is the only memory my father left for me."

The four thieves looked at each other, seemingly not knowing what to say. But for Davy, he felt like he shared the wrong information about how good his aircraft was and now they were thinking about stealing it.

"Well, then, you can say that you and this aircraft are safe with us," Valdis said after a while. "We are not going to steal this aircraft of yours, after all, this is very complicated for us. Like the deal, we just want you to drop us off on the planet Exoshelm and we can separate ways."

Davy breathed in relief. "That's great to hear. I am not planning on joining you and your dangerous adventures anyway, and you know what I think? We'll never be able to get along well together."

For Davy, he was better working alone with Luisa. This was his first time having someone else in his aircraft, not definitely four thieves. They seemingly had different ways and strategies than him. Plus, he didn't want anyone bossing him around, he had been the boss of his own life for so many years, this was a new feeling for him.

Valdis snorted. "And you think we want you in our team? Dream on."

He would not get along with all of them, but most especially their leader, Valdis Voight.
