Astrid stood with her back to the door, her eyes scanning the room as tears welled up at the sides. She had made up her mind, and nothing was going to change it.
The door swung open, and she didn't bother turning around to see who it was. She had already texted Maren about her decision to leave and she expected to see her here.
"Astrid," Maren called out in shock, her voice echoing through the room. Astrid slowly turned around, her eyes meeting Maren's.
"He still wants you, you shouldn't have made a decision," Maren advised, taking a step closer to Astrid.
Astrid shook her head, her long hair swaying gently. "It's time I give them both the chance and allow them to be with each other," She said, her voice firm but laced with a hint of sadness.
Maren grabbed Astrid's hands, trying to convince her to stay. "Astrid, come on... you love him, you can't just leave. She doesn't even deserve to be with him," Maren said, her voice rising in desperation.
