Astrid's laughter echoed through the ward, her eyes fixed on Rowan's serious expression.
She couldn't believe what he had just said. She doubled over, her laughter turning into hysterical giggles.
She can't believe this, Mattie is her sister? Not when she planned on making her pay for making her go through pain.
Rowan's face scrunched up in concern. "Astrid, stop… this Listen to me."
But Astrid couldn't stop. She laughed until tears streamed down her face. Rowan tried to approach her, but she held up a hand, still chuckling.
"You're joking, right?" she asked, wiping tears from her eyes. "You must have mistaken whatever crap you have been smoking."
Rowan's expression turned solemn. "I am not joking, Astrid. And I am not mistaken." he asserted, trying to move closer.
"No! Never! My mum would never hide that truth from me! Mattie can't be my sister!"
