RILING HER UP

Tonia sat beside Mattie, her eyes fixed on her peaceful face. She was still trying to wrap her head around the fact that Mattie wasn't her biological daughter.

The revelation had left her reeling, and she couldn't help but wonder how this had happened. How had she spent her entire life loving and caring for a child who wasn't even hers?

Was this repercussion for what she had made her sister go through?

Just then, Mattie's eyes fluttered open, and she smiled weakly at Tonia.

"Mum," she called almost in tears.

"You finally came for me," she whispered as she tried to sit up, but a sharp pain in her stomach made her groan.

Tonia quickly grabbed a glass of water rushed to her and helped her sit up.

Then proceeded to help Mattie take a sip.
