The queen blew out the candles, plunging the room into darkness. "I wish you the best of luck, Kae. You need all the luck to survive tomorrow anyways."

You poisoned the wine?" Kae raised an eyebrow, his voice laced with curiosity. But instead of replying directly, Queen Lyraea let out a burst of laughter.

"Although I could poison the wine and remain unaffected, I didn't poison yours unlike the other consorts' wine, which I did poison before sending it to them," Queen Lyraea said with a smirk. "I couldn't invite the other consorts to my chamber, so I gave them their own dose of poison through wine."

"You poisoned the others as well? Why?" Kae asked, his smirk returning. He wasn't really concerned about him getting poisoned as he knew no poison could affect him, not with his blood being the most toxic of all, but his curiosity grew. Why was the queen poisoning the other consorts? "And what kind of poison did you give me?"
