Frances lay in the hospital bed, her complexion pale and strained. Dr. Henry stood beside her, checking her vitals with a mix of concern and guilt etched on his face.
"How are you feeling?" he asked gently.
"I'm fine. I fainted because of the stress," she replied, her voice edged with frustration.
"I'm sorry about everything, Frances," he said, his eyes dropping to the floor.
Frances glared at him, anger boiling beneath her calm exterior. "I shouldn't be talking to you after what you did to my daughter."
"I was following orders," he defended, but the weight of her words hung heavily in the air.
"Ruining a twenty-year-old girl's life—you are sick, Dr. Henry." The accusation was sharp, and he flinched, guilt washing over him.
"Get well soon," he murmured before exiting the room.
Moments later, Selina entered, her face partially obscured by a nurse's cap. "Ma'am, how are you feeling?" she asked, her tone deceptively sweet.
Frances narrowed her eyes. "Don't ask me that when you know you all wronged my daughter."
"I wasn't aware, ma'am. I didn't know Dr. Henry was taking bribes," Selina replied, honestly.
Frances sighed, her frustration palpable. "I'm sorry. I'm just so pissed off."
"No need to apologize. I understand your pain. If you want to see your daughter, I can help you with that," Selina offered, her voice softening.
Frances studied her, suspicion creeping in. "What do you mean? Do you know where she is?"
"Yes," Selina answered, a hint of something in her eyes.
"Where?" Frances pressed.
"She is here with you," Selina said, her voice steady.
Frances squinted, a flicker of recognition crossing her face. "My love, Selina!"
Selina moved closer, tears brimming in her eyes. "In flesh and blood. Hi, Mom."
Frances's heart ached. "Selina, I am so sorry. I was never there when you needed me."
"Why do you keep saying that? It's not your fault," Selina replied, her voice low.
"It's my fault," Frances insisted, desperation creeping into her tone.
"Don't blame yourself. I chose to become this monster."
Frances flinched at the word. "It hurts me when you call yourself a monster. Love, please surrender. It's never too late."
Selina shook her head, her expression resolute. "That word has come too late. I can't surrender, Mom. I have to complete my mission."
"Why? What happened to you in that hospital?" Frances asked, searching her daughter's eyes for answers.
"I started my life afresh with a new handwriting," Selina said cryptically.
"What? Who gave you that idea?"
"I'll give the credit to my sweet daddy."
Frances recoiled at the implication. "You killed two police officers. What did you even do?"
"My special recipe: acid coffee," Selina replied, her tone unnervingly calm.
"God, Selina!" Frances gasped.
"Calm down, Mom. Remember, you are not well," Selina retorted.
"You are not my daughter," Frances said, anguish flooding her voice.
"I thought I made that clear," Selina shot back, the distance between them palpable.
"Why didn't you tell me about your father and his mistress?" Frances pressed.
"I couldn't because he threatened me, and I was scared... but not anymore," Selina revealed, a flicker of defiance in her eyes.
"Why didn't you confide in me? I would have done anything for you," Frances pleaded.
"I know, but Dad messed up big time," Selina replied, bitterness lacing her words.
"Forgive me and stop all this. I don't want you to get hurt," Frances implored.
"I won't get hurt. I am always protected." Selina lifted her shirt, revealing a stab-proof vest beneath.
Frances gasped, horror creeping in. "It's like you've become a pro. Were you an assassin? Are you working for someone?"
"No. People work for me. I am no one's puppet anymore," Selina declared, her eyes fierce.
"One last question. Who's next?" Frances asked, dread settling in her stomach.
"My sweet daddy," Selina replied coldly.
"Don't do this, Selina, for my sake," Frances pleaded.
Just then, Anne entered the room, worry etched on her face. "Aunt, are you okay? Nurse, please give us a moment."
Selina stepped back, a sardonic smile on her lips. "No problem. Please take care of yourself, ma'am." She exited, leaving a tense silence behind.
"How are you feeling?" Anne asked, concern evident in her voice.
"I am good," Frances said, though her eyes betrayed her.
"Have you eaten anything yet?" Anne continued.
"I lost my appetite," Frances admitted.
"What happened?" Anne pressed.
"Selina."
"What? Have you heard from her?" Anne's voice rose in alarm.
"Yes, I spoke to her just now. She came to visit me."
"When?" Anne's eyes widened.
"Selina was the nurse," Frances explained, the weight of the revelation sinking in.
"Oh my God. Doctor Henry is in danger," Anne said, her tone urgent.
"She isn't going for him today. She wants him to treat me first," Frances replied, dread settling in her stomach.
"Who's next?" Anne asked, fear creeping into her voice.
"Her father."
"I can't believe I'm saying this, Aunt, but he deserves it. Your husband has been maltreating her for so long."
"I know. I sent him packing," Frances said, guilt weighing heavily on her heart.
"But Selina has gone too far. I need to stop her. I'll report it to Officer Roberts," Anne insisted.
"It's pointless, Anne. I know I don't know this side of my daughter, but I think she isn't going to stop until she kills all of them."
In the doctor's office, Selina entered, still disguised as a nurse. Dr. Henry looked up from his desk, his expression skeptical.
"Doctor Henry," she said.
"What is the problem, nurse?" he asked, barely masking his irritation.
"Frances is fine now. I just gave her her medicines," she replied, keeping her voice steady.
"That's good. Now get back to work," he instructed.
"Okay, Doctor Henry." Selina paused, turning back to him. "Doctor?"
"Yes?" he asked, glancing up.
"Do you believe money is everything?"
"Of course not. Why are you asking?" he replied, confusion flickering in his eyes.
"Then why did you make that girl's life a living hell because of money?" she pressed.
"Get out, nurse!" he snapped, anger rising.
"Why were you so cruel to her? What if she comes for you?" Selina challenged, her eyes narrowing.
"Did Selina send you? I am not afraid of that crazy girl, you hear me?" he spat.
"Loud and clear. Watch your back, Doctor Henry," Selina warned, her voice low.
"What are you still doing standing here? I said get out!" he shouted.
"Selina will get to you soon. Today is your day of grace," she said, a smirk playing on her lips.
"You are not a nurse. Who are you?" he demanded, realization dawning.
"Figure that out yourself. At least, I warned you." With that, Selina exited, leaving Henry trembling in her wake.
"Lord, this is a nightmare," he murmured, dread settling in.
Meanwhile, at Helen's house, Selina carefully picked the lock and entered silently, scanning the rooms for signs of life. "No one is home. That's a bonus," she muttered to herself.
Moving stealthily upstairs, she entered her father's room and began rifling through drawers and closets, determined to find what she was looking for. "It has to be here," she whispered, frustration mounting.
After a few moments of searching, she finally discovered a stash of a hundred million dollars hidden in a safe. "Plan B," she chuckled softly, taking a portion of the money.
Selina then headed to Helen's room, opening her closet and hiding the remaining amount inside. "Fight amongst yourselves and then die together. I'll be coming back, Daddy," she said, satisfaction gleaming in her eyes.
Exiting the room, she locked the door behind her, ensuring it appeared untouched, her plan well underway.
