Chapter Two The visit

isn't today visiting day? Let's get ready to go see Cassy, Drey" cassy's Mom tells her son in the least enthusiastic way.

Cassy's Mom Mariah is a divorced woman who never seemed to get a man by her side. She had Cassy and Drew along the line of her youthful adventures of finding love, which didn't work out.

The thought of going to see her daughter being bars in that trash uniform being treated like a criminal makes her stomach whirl making her feel sick, but she is her daughter and needed to be there for her, she'll be expecting her.

"Do I have to go, I hate seeing her in there and feeling helpless, mom, not being able to do anything, I can't stand it" Drey says in response,

" don't be like that will have to be strong for her no matter what, it's now more than ever, go get ready let's go".

" Ok mom, I'll be with I in a minute."

Minutes later they're both ready to leave and , make their way to the car parked outside the house.

The grey colored Toyota Corolla is one of her divorce benefits as it was given to her after setting everything with last man she married Daniel.

Daniel wasn't that wealthy of a guy but was well made in his business, he was into buying and selling, mostly furnitures for the most public and he was a really nice guy she could say, he would always put her first.

Everything went well up until she had Drey, and things she would say started get a little off when she started receiving calls meant for Daniel that she wasn't supposed to, but seeing he always went on business trips and she was his wife who thought she knew him why na be a good wife and do the needful.

One days she answered like every other and the voice on the other end didn't seemed pleased and was pissed about something, without out any introductions the voice immediately started yelling " Daniel you pay me my fucking money or you wouldn't like what coming" and that was it.

Turns out that the buying and selling yeah, Wasn't all furnitures and his business went way deeper than she had told her, so she thought better safe than sorry, she couldn't risk the life of her children in this kind of life.

she's seen her own fair share of a troubled childhood and wouldn't want that for her children.

It's been 3 years after she left Daniel and everytime she takes the drivers sit fresh winds of memories flow down her mind and she can't help but remenise on those few years with him and everytime when she's back she'll remind herself saying,

"Mariah you're a woman in her 50' s with two beautiful children, you've tried and it isn't just for you."

The drive from Brickell down town to where Cassy's prison was located is a 8 to 9 minutes drive depending on traffic, and a 2.5 miles drive.

Wasn't something too hard and for her daughter she will come rain, come sun. Mariah and her son drove to see her daughter and sister, as fast as she could to catch up with their 8am to 10am visitation rules.

Taking a turn through the bumpy road the bold sign WOMEN'S DETENTION CENTER, became clear and clear till she arrived and well parks in the parking lot.

"Cassy's hope you mom brings a new wrap for you this time, this one all torn up, and it stinks" jasmine saying, making gestures of her thin clothing, and Cassy smiles packing up her hair into a bun, she knows any minutes now the alarm will ring and a guard gonna come saying the words " John Cassy, you have a visitor"

so trying her best to look ok and not give any sign to trouble her mom, she makes use of the broken glass as a mirror to look at herself as she dresses, it's visiting day and she's really look forward to seeing her mother and brother who keeps growing anytime they came visiting.

She just had her bath so the scent of a clean body hasn't died off on her yet which is good, because cus she wouldn't want to be smelling all sweaty, and thank God she hadn't started a fight with Amoy, wouldn't want her going to see her mom with a black eye And swollen face.

All's set and she is waiting to be called.

And there it was.

Mariah Pov

Cassy in her yellow prison uniform looked really good everytime they came to visit, I wasn't as if she did to much to add up to her already perfect face.

Cassy has dark brown hair that's added a few inches over her time in prison, beautiful blues eyes that she took from her father, with a nice height that you would call as not too tall.

she has a curvy body that always stands out no matter what she wore and that I would say I didn't know where she picked it of from, but as always she's beautiful.

Cassy's mom says these all in thought as she watches her daughter walk up to where she's sited with chains on her wrist, smiling beautiful, and some how she has a glimpses of hope that at all certainly isn't all lost.

"oh Cassy you look Good has always, how are you my child" I say as the chains are removed and she sits down facing me.

"Yellow was always your color" I try making jokes, which works because even Drey who's been faced down all this while light a smile I could tell, I held his hands to fight back my tears and to show I was strong, for her and for him as well.

" I brought the wraps you asked for I'll give to to the warden before I go, so tell me everything, how's it like being a librarian in prison, of course I already know that, you always keep me updated but still talk to me, I've missed you, we've missed you so much cass" i say not even letting a breath out, word for word not even giving her space to respond.

Cassy pov

There they are my mom, always trying to hide how scared and worried she is with that full face smile that even show her teeth.

Never thought I would miss seeing it so much, and Drey my brother who looks a lot older now since I haven't seen him for just 3 months and he's looking like a full grown man, his just 17 with this much beards and i could tell he's being working out seeing how broad his shoulders are and how muscular he looked.

we never really meet eye to eye always fighting siblings stuff, but yeah I'll rule for him any day any time.

Returning her smile, I smile too, It feels great seeing them i must confess, them the only family I have.

I just smile happily waiting for her to finish." Mom Mom mom, I'm fine everything's fine, I should be the one asking the questions, how life's, how's everything, you tell me, and Gerry.

Heard Drey found a stray and decided to keep it, he has always had a soft heart just never showed it to me," we all laugh and Drey just slap my hands signaling not funny.

" ohhh I'm right and you know it" I giggle, even after he slaps my hands.

"mom being a librarian in here has its ups and downs and for the most of it, it's really stressful, stocking and restocking book, being covered with dust all the time.

The good part is the books, yeah the book never sieves to fascinate me, you'll be surprised how updated a prisons library can be.

I always read to my content, and let's not forget the daily news update, it get to my hand before going to other inmates, cool right.

Let's not forget the pay, isn't much but coming in weekly 50$ can go a long way when I don't spend it on anything, so all in all I'm grate mom you don't need to be stressed up yyu know, besides my hearing for an appeal could be heard and I will be out of her before the years ends" I say to my mom this time taking her hands.

" Cassy don't you worry I'll get you a great attorney, and you will get out, you didn't kill anyone and we'll prove it to the judge, to those fucking Simons of a family, you could never hurt a fly, now murder is something you would never do"

" it's fine mom, I know you will, when's your next visit mom?" I ask

" Two weeks from now."

" would you have gotten someone by then?"

" Of course sweetie I'll have it worked out".

" It's almost time mom" Drey finally says, all this time he's just being listening to our conversation, like he always does, some quiet freak he is.

" Cass you'll be fine, I know it, you didn't kill anyone and we'll make sure the world knows that, I miss you and can't wait for u to walk out of here free " drey says, I can tell by the look on his face how sad he is.

"Times up, prisoners should go back to their cells" a loud voice from the speaker across the room announces and a guard starts walking towards Cassy, when he gets there Cassy says her goodbye smiling.

Turn back the guard put the chains on her and signals her to move and she looks back one last time.
