An Unexpected encounter!

"Hmm... my throat feels dry," Momo muttered as she rose from her bed. Glancing to her side, she noticed her water jug was empty. "Looks like I'll have to head to the common room for some water," she murmured, slipping out of bed.

Momo glanced at the clock on the wall and noted that it was past midnight. "Everyone must be asleep by now," she mused quietly to herself.

With a tired sigh, Momo stretched her body and tiptoed out of the room. Quietly, she made her way down the dimly lit hallway towards the common room, being careful not to wake anyone. However, upon reaching the common room, she was surprised to find someone already seated there. Recognizing the familiar green hair, she immediately knew who it was. "Izuku?" she whispered, raising a brow in confusion, wondering why her friend was awake at such a late hour.

Meanwhile, upon noticing another person in the common room, Izuku looked up and greeted Momo with a smile. "Momo, what brings you here at this hour?" he asked.

"I could ask you the same, you know?" Momo replied as she stood in front of him. Glancing around, she noticed that he was working on Aizawa sensei's assignment that was due on Monday.

"Well, you got me there," Izuku chuckled. "Seriously though, I often spend my weekends staying up at night ever since we first moved into our dorms. However, this is the first time I've seen you awake at this hour."

"Really?" Momo asked, surprised. "How come I haven't heard about it before?"

"Because, like I said, I've never seen you awake at this time of night," Izuku explained. "It's not just you; I hardly remember encountering anyone at night. Aside from Tokoyami, who sometimes wanders here due to Dark Shadow's shenanigans, or Aizawa sensei, who patrols at random times to see if everything is all right."

"Makes sense," Momo nodded. "Between attending school, internships, and our hero training, I doubt anyone has enough energy to stay awake at night. Well, anyone whose name is not Izuku Midoriya," she teased with a grin.

"I'll take that as a compliment," Izuku replied with a smile, and they shared a laughter together. "By the way, why were you here in the first place?" he asked.

"Oh, right. I came to grab some water for myself," Momo answered, holding up an empty jug. She walked over to the kitchen to refill it before heading towards the stairs. "Have a good night. I'm off to get some beauty sleep," she called out as she ascended the stairs, leaving Izuku to continue his work.

15 minutes later, Izuku once again found Momo sitting in front of him with a sheepish smile on her face. "What happened? I thought you were going to enjoy your beauty sleep," he said, looking at her.

"I tried, but for some reason, sleep wouldn't come to me," Momo sighed. "So instead of staring at my room's ceiling, I thought I could keep you company, of course, only if you don't mind."

"Of course, I don't mind," Izuku replied with a smile. Then he closed his books and got up from his seat. "Do you want some coffee?" he asked.

"A little would be nice," she accepted, and they both made their way to the kitchen.

Then, as Izuku busied himself with preparations for making the coffee, suddenly a thought crossed Momo's mind. "Hey Izuku, you said you often spend your nights like this, right?" she asked.

"Mostly on weekends when we don't have school the next day, but yeah, I do like and try to stay up at night as much as I could," Izuku replied.

"But why?" Momo pressed.

"Sorry?" Izuku arched his eyebrow.

"I mean, why stay up at night when you could do all of this..." Momo gestured towards the assignment Izuku was working on, "... during the day as well?"

"I don't know how to explain this, but to tell you the truth, I think I work better at night," Izuku scratched the back of his neck, trying to find the right words to explain. "I feel like my mind operates more effectively during these nocturnal hours."

"Really?" Momo raised her brow skeptically.

"Don't worry, Momo. I don't think you will ever understand what I am saying," Izuku chuckled, shaking his head as he poured coffee into their mugs.

"What do you mean by that?" Momo frowned as she accepted the coffee. "Wait! Are you making fun of me?"

"I don't mean to offend you, Momo, but I don't think staying up at night will ever be your strong suit," Izuku remarked, noticing Momo's deepening frown. "The thing is, Momo, you're like a jasmine, a rose, a sunflower... but I don't believe you'll ever become a night lily," he added with a sweet smile, causing Momo's eye to twitch in annoyance.

"And how can you be so sure that I can't stay up all night?" Momo challenged, narrowing her eyes at Izuku.

"Momo, we've been friends for the past three years now, and you know I'm good at observing people, especially those close to me, so we can trust my word on this," Izuku explained. "Besides, looking at your face, I can already tell you'll be dozing off in the next half an hour."

"No, I'm not," Momo defiantly retorted. "I can stay awake if I want to!"

"Is that so?" Izuku asked with an amused smile. "No, I don't think you could," he shook his head, the amused smile still remaining on his face, much to Momo's annoyance.

"Izuku 'Deku' Midoriya!" Momo walked forward, invading his personal space. "I said. I. Can. Stay. Awake," she declared, snapping her fingers in front of his face.

"Well then, how about a bet?" Izuku proposed. "Let's see who sleeps first, you or me."

"Fine, a bet it is," Momo agreed, shaking his hand.
