PROLOGUE

Humans were inherently creatures that were not easily satisfied. They had various dreams and desires, but perhaps there was one desire that was the same for every human living on Earth; they wanted to be able to see tomorrow.

In the year 2024, humans felt great fear, afraid of not being able to see tomorrow when a meteor with a diameter of 90 meters hit a desert area in the northern hemisphere. The nickel-iron celestial object hit the Earth's surface with such tremendous force that it killed all living things within a radius of two thousand kilometers, and after the impact, a crater with a diameter of two thousand kilometers was formed in the area.

It was fortunate that the meteor hit the desert. Not many humans were killed, and that was why it could not be said that the meteor incident almost caused the end of the world. It was only a week after the meteor accident when humans began to worry about not being able to see tomorrow. The cause was a virus carried by the meteor that hit Earth, and it was called the "Dawn virus."

Year 2044.

[This game is so boring. I'm gonna quit and delete my acc]

The player with the ID "LonelyWolfff" said in-game, and another player with the ID "LovelyLilGurl" who had just completed a mission with him immediately replied:

[If you quit this game, then what are you gonna play next, Wolfie?]

The person behind the player "LonelyWolfff" did not immediately type on his keyboard to answer the question. He was a young man sitting in front of the monitor. A headphone was worn on his head, and his earlobes were covered by it, blocking out any sound coming from outside.

His black hair was soft and smooth as it fluttered gently at the nape of his neck every time he moved his head. From the side, his high nose was his most prominent facial feature, but his pair of doe eyes adorned with long eyelashes were not something that anyone who saw them would ignore.

Currently, his pair of large yet sharp eyes reflected the game displayed on the monitor that featured two characters of different genders in the middle of a sunflower field.

"What game am I going to play after quitting this shitty game? Of course, I won't be able to play anything since this shitty game is the only one available in this dying world. But, who would still have the will to play a game when the world is about to end?" His thin lips murmured, and his honey-like voice broke the silence in the cold room with only him in it.

His pair of green eyes looked bright as they reflected the light from the monitor in front of him, but they actually became dim after he muttered pessimistic words as if responding to the question coming from the other player.

His heavy sigh was the next to break the silence in the room before his slender fingers once again danced across the keyboard:

[The world is about to end]

[We will all be eaten by zombies, and there is no way that everyone will return to the world shown in this boring game]

[This game only gives false hope to people who have no hope]

The black-haired man had just finished typing, not expecting the other player to reply so quickly:

[OUR WORLD: BEFORE THE DAWN is not a boring game!]

[This game shows how beautiful and peaceful our world was twenty years ago and gives us the motivation to continue living until the world becomes a safe place again!]

[Scientists are working hard to find a vaccine for the Dawn Virus, and I'm confident that we will all survive!]

The young man received a rather lengthy argument from the other player who was using the character of a blonde girl wearing a black and white maid outfit, and he muttered in annoyance again, "What a naive and stubborn kid. It's been twenty years, but nothing has changed since that day, so how much longer do we have to wait until this madness can stop?"

He was annoyed with the other player, and he actually wanted to just leave without saying anything. However, his little heart still felt a little sorry for the naive person, and that was why he ended up replying:

[Whatever. I'll just leave this shitty game, and I'll delete my acc, too.]

[You better stop bothering me and go find another player who can carry you]

Once again, he received an immediate reply from the other player:

[Wait! What?]

[Are you gonna quit because you're too tired of carrying me?]

[I promised that I'd become more independent in the game, so can you just stay and not leave? This lil gurl can't afford to lose the big wolfie at all!]

The so-called big wolfie rolled his eyes lazily as he typed again:

[Stop acting like an innocent girl! You're just a perverted dude pretending to be a girl, and your tricks won't work on me!]

The owner of the account "LonelyWolfff" had made up his mind, and he didn't intend to wait for a reply from the other player, going to delete his account immediately. However, before he could move his optical mouse to delete his account, there was another reply from the other player:

[You can't just leave your boyfie like this, Wolfie!]

[Even if you quit and delete your account, I'll come looking for you like a zombie hunting you down!]

The owner of the account "LonelyWolfff" gritted his teeth in anger, but he didn't bother replying to the other player this time. Instead, his right hand moved so fast when he saw a pop-up message asking him if he was sure he wanted to permanently delete his account. He didn't hesitate to click "Yes," and he felt like he was back in the real world after quitting the game.

He muttered to himself, "I hate zombies, and I won't let any zombies get close to me."
