Chapter 23
The Water Stone
The friends emerged from the fiery chaos of the volcano, panting and exhilarated. The air was a refreshing contrast to the heat they had just endured. As they caught their breath, a dense mist began to curl around them, obscuring the surroundings in an ethereal veil.
Aria squinted through the haze. “What’s happening?” she asked, her voice steady but filled with urgency.
Kael, closing his eyes to attune to the energy around them, sensed a powerful current nearby. “There’s a river flowing close by. I can feel it. We’re getting closer to the Water Stone,” he said, his voice laced with excitement.
Rowan gripped his staff tightly, the wood warm under his fingers. “Let’s move quickly. The shadows won’t be far behind us. We need the Water Stone to balance the Fire Stone’s energy, or we risk losing everything.”
