Preparation for Departure to the Barony 2

The route to the Welcome Merchant Company was now familiar to them. Although they could only walk the main roads and not take shortcuts, they still made good progress due to the upcoming task ahead.

"Hello."

"Good day, Lord William."

"Hi!"

"Oh, Wataru and Mariel, and Air, welcome. You're dressed unusually today. Are you going somewhere?"

Wataru and his companions were preparing for their stay in the Barony of Moy. They carried provisions for daily changes, snacks for the journey, biscuits, a water bottle, and other essentials highlighting their travel preparations.

In particular, Air, expected to use his strength, carried a massive mountaineering backpack.

"We are actually leaving South Funamachi for a while to meet Baron Moy. We are hoping to exchange Air's weapon. Before that, we wanted to make sure you had sugar in case we can't reach you without it."

"I see. Thank you for your consideration."

"It's been about a week since then. How is the sugar holding up?"

"It seems it will be unveiled in the Royal Capital in two to three days, so it depends on the outcome. I'm keen to know the results as soon as possible."

This timing seemed appropriate: a maximum of five days one way or ten days round trip. If they felt like sightseeing, they might not return for almost two weeks.

Completing additional orders without having stock was crucial for William's reputation.

"Today, what can I assist you with?"

"We brought along just two bags in case an emergency order is needed while we are away. If they are not needed, we can retrieve these. Can we leave them with you?"

"Yes, of course."

"Would it be best to arrange transportation for our journey to the Barony? Is there a carriage service available?"

"I personally think a shared carriage service is best, but I wasn't sure if that was an option."

Mariel's suggestion aligned with the common mode of transportation in this country, with stagecoaches running on major highways.

While convenient for safety and comfort, it may involve frequent stops in villages, not ideal for urgent travels, though that was not the case this time.

"If we are to carry luggage, then we should consider it."

Mariel and William both understood the value of sugar, leading to a surprising show of trust from Wataru.

"We don't have a shared carriage service, but there are carriages running along the way. The Barony veers off from the main highway, so there may be no direct service."

"Then... that's good to know. Sorry about that, Wataru."

"No, it's helpful to know, so thank you."

"If trade caravans traveling to the Barony are found, it might be best to join them. They should be quite frequent in this area."

Traveling in groups has significant advantages, providing safety and convenience, though it may not suit urgent travel due to frequent stops.

"I appreciate it."

After inquiring about rental properties in the area and finding the prices surprisingly reasonable, Wataru decided to secure a larger house and warehouse to prevent theft or other incidents.

"I'm grateful for your assistance with the properties."

"You are welcome. I look forward to your return for a property visit, and if all is well, we can proceed with the contract."

"I appreciate it. We should get going."

"We eagerly await your next visit. Welcomeeee!"

"Welcomeee!"

"Air, that's rude."

"Giggle!"

Wataru felt mortified by Air's antics, realizing that the responsibility for the slave's behavior ultimately falls on the owner.

Such embarrassment. There would be consequences later.
