Chapter 17

Locked in Burgess's private villa, I felt a surge of frustration as he led me to the bedroom and ordered, "Stay here and reflect on yourself!"

"I have nothing to reflect on," I retorted, attempting to open the door and escape his confinement.

But Burgess was quick to thwart my efforts, sneering as he pulled me back and secured me to the head of the bed with a tie. His words were laced with resentment, "You went to have an abortion without telling me. Do you think I'm dead?"

Pouting in defiance, I couldn't help but wonder aloud, "How did you know I was in that hospital?"

Burgess's sneer only deepened, his tone cutting, "What do you think?"

Suddenly, the realization hit me like a ton of bricks. "You sent someone to follow me? You are totally a bastard!" I accused him, my anger boiling over.
