Chapter 86

Burgess's mind was a mess when he asked, "Where did you go? Why did you come back so late?"

"I went to my best friend's house for dinner."

Oprah changed into slippers, walked in, passed Burgess, and went upstairs toward her room. She wondered why he had asked such an unnecessary question. After all, he always sent people to follow her.

Burgess couldn't hold it any longer, so he stood before her and asked, "Why don't you ask me where I went or what I did?"

"Because there is no need to ask. Didn't you go to work?"

Burgess always worked on weekends and holidays, so she didn't need to ask. And she felt a little puzzled, wondering what was wrong with him.

Meeting her clear eyes, he somehow could not lose his temper despite his anger.

He approached her, handed her the gift box, and said, "It's from a customer."
