Chapter 73. Time To Go

PEONY CRIMSON’S POV

Along with Xander's lack of attention for me, the summer had been full of secret, memorable sweet meetings with Xavier.

I scheduled everything carefully, even if Xander completely ignored me, his people didn't need to know where I was sneaking off to for two hours every three times a week. Annabeth didn’t know either.

Slowly the heat of the air decreased, signaling fall around the corner. After a week of my stomach feeling uncomfortable and getting tired easily, I secretly went to the infirmary, then returned to the room with tears rolling down my cheeks.

"Oh, Goddess...." I squeezed my stomach.

Three months. It was faint, but if I listened carefully, that little heartbeat was there.

I staggered, accidentally nudged the bed lamp, then sat on the edge of the bed. Still at a loss for words. I counted the dates, confirming who I was sleeping with.
