Night And Day

There was a female anthropomorphic furry jackal. She had rich black fur, short black hair, and golden eyes. She had jackal ears and a tail. She was tall and attractive with a large bust, golden lipstick, and a school shirt and skirt. Her name was Anubis.

She was in school with several other kids. However, unlike the rest of her classmates, she was isolated in the corner. All of her classmates were humans, but she looked completely different from them. Plus, she had a horrible stigma. Anyone who seemed to get close to her would die a few days later. No one wanted to associate with her.

Anubis' days were rather lonely. She went to the library every day to read books. She enjoyed action fantasy manga about knights and dragons. She had always dreamed of being in a world like this. She loved to imagine herself as the main character. Strong, brave, and widely loved. But most importantly, the main character had a purpose. A reason to live, whereas she didn't. It felt more like her purpose was to bring fear and pain to those around her.

One day, near the end of the first semester of her sophomore year in high school, she was approached by another person. The person in question was a petite teenage girl. She had short light brown hair and golden eyes. She had a white long-sleeved t-shirt, a black top, a black skirt, and black laced shoes.

"Hey!" the girl exclaimed in a loud voice. "Wanna be friends?"

Anubis didn't respond. She was ignoring her, trying to focus on her manga, a romance between a female knight and a male mage. The girl didn't stop though, and followed Anubis around all day.

Anubis did, however, know this girl. There was nobody who didn't. Her name was Seiko, the youngest daughter of the Washinaba family, the fifth wealthy family in the country. Many people sucked up to her, out of either greed or fear, and Anubis didn't want to get involved with that type of drama. Yet, through the next couple of days, Seiko continued to follow Anubis everywhere she went.

One day, Anubis was sitting inside the school courtyard. She was at a table, drawing her own manga. The school courtyard was usually crowded. Yet not a single person was there when Anubis was present. Except for Seiko, who kept pestering Anubis. She got in her face.

"Do you like dragons?"

Anubis looked down at her manga. Her manga had a buff and sexy dragon man in it gushing over a human girl. Anubis closed her manga in embarrassment and tried to walk away again, but Seiko followed her again.

One day, Seiko went missing. Many pointed the finger at Anubis, as no one really liked or trusted her. Plus Seiko had been following her around and annoying her for the past few days. It was the day before finals, and while Anubis was studying behind the school, she heard many people spreading rumors about her with her superior sense of hearing.

Both finals and winter break passed, but Seiko never showed back up. On the first day of school, Seiko's dad, Keigo, came to search for traces of his daughter. Many students immediately pointed the finger at Anubis. When Keigo saw her for the first time, he was shocked. She looked like a monster. She looked human-like, but she looked completely different than the other students.

Keigo walked up and slammed his hands on her desk. "What did you do with my daughter?!"

"I didn't do anything to your daughter, sir."

"Not a single person story about you on this campus conflicts. Everyone says you did it, freak. Tell me where my daughter is now!"

Suddenly, the room became dimmer and the sun was blocked out with thick clouds. A dark veil surrounded the school and everyone but Anubis fell unconscious. The dark veil made it seem darker than night as eldritch tentacles slipped into the room and started dragging all the unconscious people away.

Anubis began to hear an eerie voice call out her name. "A...nu...bis... A...nu...bis..." The voices echoed and they got louder and louder over time. Anubis let shivers go down her spine and her body began to shake. Some of the tentacles slowly extended, trying to grab Anubis, but she jumped out of the way.

She fled out the classroom, as she noticed the tentacles and bodies of students piling up and she went along. She tried to escape the school. The voices only got louder and louder as she ran. But she was stopped by the door by a familiar figure. It was Seiko, but her face was covered by a shadow.

"A...nu...bis..." Seiko said quietly in a distorted voice. She then walked into the dim light, revealing her octopus-like eldritch body with a torn up mouth and hollow eyes. Her soft, delicate skin was now rough, melted, and bony. It was a horrifying sight that nearly made Anubis throw up. Seiko started approaching her and Anubis kept backing up. Eventually, she was cornered.

"A...nu...bis... be...my...friend..."
