The function of the system and the idea of brewing potions

He pressed his lips together and controlled himself, looking at the flickering red candle in the room. He was anxious to check the system, especially when such a terrifying reality was awaiting him in the future, the looming gradually gave him a sense of urgency, which he could not suppress, no matter how hard he tried.

Thud!

At this moment, Lilith closed the door using her soft hands and walked towards the bed as usual to her daily routine. The candle became dimmer, while she put her head in his chest, and relaxed. Looking at this scene, Samael sighed, thinking whether to advance or retreat.

Matter of fact, she was his wife from now on, but she was also a sort of stranger to him. After a moment of contemplation, a feeling akin to endearing rushed in his heart, and his embrace around her soft and lavish body tightened.

He took a deep breath, nervousness was flickering in his mind, giving him a bit of anxiety from time to time. But gazing at Lilith's content slumber face, his heart was filled with endearment. She looked adorable, her eyes shut, and her soft breathing hitting his chest causing a wave of affection between them.

For some moments, time paused for him, the bitter dim memories of war, were getting replaced by the warmth of Lilith. He could not help but keep looking at her face, with a gaze which contained a tinge of fondness.

After adoring her expressions for some seconds, he smiled. "Father used to say that a man's greatest treasure is his wife, perhaps he is not wrong." He instinctively murmured for a moment, then turned his attention to the system.

"System", he spoke sotto voce.

[Present]

"Please elaborate on your function one more time."

[The System is the system of exchange, its main application and function is to provide a store where anything can be purchased using the special currency of the system.]

[Host has not reached the required level, hence the store has not opened yet, please level up as soon as possible to obtain the store.]

"Hmm, so for now, I am not eligible yet, to open more functions, I will have to level up fast and get to reach the eligibility criteria."

[That's correct!]

"You also said that there was something related to Hunter Energy, I am still not sure about it?" Samael asked pensively.

[As previously pointed out by the system, System can exchange the world energy to form an ordinary aptitude for using that particular energy. Other than that, no extra amount of information has been obtained.]

Samael sighed lightly and nodded. System was not omniscient, it relied upon his memories to extract information and suggest to him. He tried to recall anything related to it, but he could not.

"Based on the previous power surge, I can absorb beasts to level up, right?"

[That's correct, Using the beasts and extracting their cores can help Host to refine and expand his energy accumulation.]

Samael nodded before he turned his attention from the system to Lilith, he caressed her hair a bit and then closed his eyes.

The beautiful night passed away like a fleeting dream, and three suns hung in the sky, lighting the new world.

"Morning!"

A bit of water drop fell on the face of Samael, interrupting him from his slumber. He opened his eyes and saw Lilith smiling close to his face.

"You slept a lot, didn't you? Guess, you got all tired from that hunting." Lilith poked his nose and handed him a glass of fresh water.

Samael rubbed his eyes and then gave her a slight smile. "Can't deny that, that rabbit was hard to steal, mainly when beasts were lurking all around that area." He spoke, but the voice was heavy and a bit unclear due to morning.

Lilith nodded her head and pointed towards the washroom, "You should go and prepare yourself up. You have to meet Stable-Master today, he said something related to the upcoming of a certain important person."

"Is it Lord-Wife?" Samael spoke with his muscles tensed, in a hoarse voice. "You are always in a sarcastic mood, no, it is somebody from outside the village." Lilith shook her head and smiled.

"Okay, I will prepare myself, by the way from now on, I have an idea, we can work at home together, I will do something about that. Rather than working for somebody else, we can do something related to our business."

Samael thought for a moment then uttered out his inner thoughts. There were two reasons for this-- He had to grow first, and that required some time, but Lord-Wife seemed to be interested in Lilith, it meant sending her out was no different than sending a lamb to a tiger's den.

Second, he had no good feelings towards this village, it seemed unreal even from other perspectives. When there are such beasts, then there should be even more harmony and a stronger community to resist them and increase the chances of survival, but it was entirely different here, that elevated his suspicion towards this village more and more.

"Did you hit your head last night? We have no food, what we will even do together?" Though Lilith spoke bitterly, it seemed she was not against the idea. She looked at him with a questioning gaze, waiting for his reason to convince her.

Samael smiled at her gaze, knowing that she trusted that he did not speak without any bases. He cleared his throat and spoke in a gentle tone, "I was lucky and found an herb-mixing method, I can pick herbs from the outer safe forest, and you can brew some rudimentary potions. We can easily earn enough amount of money to buy food every day, or perhaps even land when we are old."

She rolled her eyes but smiled brightly, "You're right, the idea is not bad, I can do that. You just have to give me the method, and I will learn it. But it's still a bit dangerous to go out, and search the herbs, how can I trust that you will not fall prey to any animal?"

Samael knew that villagers wandered in the outer circle of the forest from time to time, so she was rather asking about the spot which gave him immense confidence about picking the herbs.

"I know." He nodded in an assuring manner, and a smile appeared on Lilith's beautiful face. She knew that he never took on any endeavour which seemed to be out of his scope, he was rather cautious and cowardly. What she did not know was that the current Samael was more of a bloodthirsty person than a cautious one. After affirming that absorbing beasts could increase his strength, he was not inclined towards the idea of not taking risks.

She was convinced of his suggestion of starting the rudimentary potion brewing, even though a bit of risk was involved but as long as you could brew potions, you could eat three times every day. As for buying land when they are old, she did not believe that.

The reason why they did not do that before is that Samael's parents left some savings, which sustained the young couple for some days, but now, if they don't find a good mean, two-time rice or crops would be hard to afford from Lord's Mansion.

The desperateness of food and competence of Samael's bringing rabbit yesterday also elevated her trust in him that he could do the job of picking herbs. Samael was more appalled after answering her question, he casually thought about medicines and forged the idea of brewing potions, but looking at Lilith's reaction, it seemed like it existed in the current world.

As for the herb-mixing potion method, he was boasting. Given this day's hunting, he might be able to level up and might put poverty out of the door, so he was not worried.

"Anyways, I am going back to the forest, til then you can prepare things, and after I return, we can go and meet Stable-Master together."

Samael spoke in a casual tone, while he headed towards the washroom.

"Alright, When you are back, The food will be ready." Lilith smiled, humming the folk tune, while she arranged the utensils.
