Chapter 16: A New ERA
"I'm worried. We haven't heard from him. It's been two days, and the authorities still haven't identified that poor girl."I've waited so long to reach this point, standing alone, watching the sea. No pressure, just me and my thoughts. Clara must be worried; it's the first time I haven't spoken to her for more than two days. The cool breeze blew from the ocean as I stood on the rock."A perfect world," I mused. "A year ago, I was a nobody. I got bullied. I was afraid to talk."Clara has played a big role in my life. Was this the end of it? I thought we were meant to be, but that's all in fairytales. We all live our lives to impress people around us. I don't need anyone's approval. As I walked over to my 335i, I saw my phone on the car seat, off for two days. The whole incident with my brother and the girl I thought loved me as much as I loved her has made me heartless.I've been sleeping at a cheap motel, parking my car in the back. Claire, the girl who couldn't even wish me a happy birthday, now likes me – or should I say, takes pity on me. I don't need anyone's handouts. I have thousands of soldiers and businesses worldwide. Learning I was Alpha #1 made me feel alive for a moment of weakness. When Clara wasn't around, I felt like an ordinary person. I lit a cigarette and stood against my car, staring at the ocean – the one place no one would look for me.I could hear Clara looking for me, and Claire probably still confused about life. But I needed this to reach the deepest ability that came with being Alpha #1. I possess superhuman speed, allowing me to move faster than normal humans and sometimes even faster than vampires. This includes rapid reflexes and the ability to cover large distances quickly. I often have superior strength, combining human endurance with vampire power, making me formidable in physical combat. My heightened senses – superior vision, hearing, and smell – give me an edge in tracking and combat situations.Being silent all these years has heightened my ability. When people thought I was just a mute, I was observing them. My stepdad, who hated me, often pointed out that my mom's mistake was weakness. I confidently stand here and tell you, everything happened as it should. That evening was planned. My destiny on earth was marked.Tossing the cigarette on the concrete ground, I climbed into my car. I need to pay a visit to someone who has been bothering me lately. I drive to the tall building in town where I knew I would find #3. I parked on the opposite side of the building, lit another cigarette, and glanced up at the 50th floor. I switched on my phone and saw all the notifications flooding in. The first message was from Kyle. He's worried and never meant to hurt me. We are family, and he loves me. He and Clara have been in love for a long time. The next message was from Claire: "We are over."That's it then. Notifications started pouring in about the incident at the mall. Our faces were blurred out, and the only copy ever made available left everyone curious, creating assumptions. I walked over to a nearby café and ordered coffee. The man stared at me and then spoke in Arabic, "لماذا يبدو مألوفا جدا من هو؟" An old man then came outside and wiped his eyes, as if he had just woken up. He glanced closer. "ماذا يريد""What I want is coffee. I would be really happy to get a cup of coffee around here," I said passively. The man's eyes widened. "هذا، هذا هو ماستر ألفا رقم 1""Listen, I'm not looking for drama. I just want my coffee," I said. The man then attempted to speak English. "You…you…you're not from here." He handed the coffee with trembling hands, spilling quite a bit out.I sipped my coffee as two black Mercedes parked behind my 335i. They wore suits and exposed glock 18s (1,200 rounds per minute) on their waistbands as they walked up to me. The shop attendants became nervous but also confident, knowing that with me there, nothing could and would happen. Walking up to me was Chow, a 40-year-old bodybuilder with a unique set of skills. I was told he came highly recommended. Seven other agents followed him. They stopped and bowed."You idiots! Do you want everyone to know who I am?" I slapped his head. Onlookers' suspicion of who I was became obvious."You better be bowing to the others I warned you about, keeping my identity anonymous.""I am sorry, Sir. It won't happen again.""Sorry doesn't undo mistakes. Be careful. I won't be as forgiving next time. Have you brought what I asked for?""Yes, boss.""Good. Now go finish the job. I'll see you at the island in the morning.""Thanks, boss. Take care."I drove back to the beach and attempted to call Kyle. His phone was off. I then called Claire. "I knew you would come begging for my forgiveness. It's fine, honey. Just come home. I'm sure we can work things out."I hung up the phone and got a call. "Done, boss."Good, well done. Sooner or later, they will be at their wits, pleading for forgiveness. When I was mute, no one forgave me, and my stepdad still has a dear price to pay for what he did to my mom. I will deal with that in time. I am only having mercy on him because of grace, but his time is coming. He will start sinking and financially losing everything. Clara warned me not to do that, but I understand why. She was financially securing herself for her and Kyle's future. They are all hypocrites, and here I stand alone as Alpha #1.A new era awaits as I dive into a world. My phone rang. It was Clara. I was hesitant to answer; we had nothing to say to each other. She made her choice, and I made mine. I had to break free.I needed inner peace. College has started, and I haven't even asked how they are feeling about college. I was about to call back when I heard a horn blaring in front of my car. It was a brown Jeep. A person inside Glancing up, I recognized that person. I couldn't believe my eyes.
