Chapter 148: The Brand New Mark II Iron Man Armor

Tony Stark began manufacturing the Mark II Iron Man armor in his underground laboratory.

While he was modifying and improving the blueprints for the Mark I, Chen Mo watched from the side, occasionally offering suggestions.

It was then that Tony Stark remembered his father, Howard, saying that Chen Mo was not only a powerful warrior but also a super genius. His strength in technological research and biological science was extremely formidable, even surpassing Howard's.

It was just that he didn't usually like to stay in the lab doing research, instead focusing more of his energy and time on combat. However, his talent and ability in science were undeniable. Many of the cutting-edge technologies that Stark Industries currently possessed had Chen Mo's involvement in the past.

Thinking of this, Tony Stark's gaze towards Chen Mo couldn't help but become fervent.

Being able to research and discuss with someone of comparable ability was definitely a happy thing for a genius who was devoted to technological research but often felt isolated.

Tony Stark immediately showed Chen Mo all his designs and ideas for the Iron Man armor. He had no need for any defenses against Chen Mo. Besides his parents, Chen Mo was his closest relative, and the only one he had left in this world.

After fully understanding Tony Stark's ideas and designs, Chen Mo couldn't help but admire his talent. This was truly an incredibly ingenious design, far ahead of its time.

However, these were still preliminary designs with many shortcomings. Based on his own perspective and the plot of the movie, Chen Mo easily pointed out many of the deficiencies and directions for improvement, making Tony Stark's eyes light up as he nodded repeatedly.

When Chen Mo was with Howard back then, he had mastered strong technological research capabilities. However, seventy years had passed, and many of the things he knew were outdated. Fortunately, he had Hydra's powerful research team behind him.

During his days in the martial arts gym, Chen Mo hadn't been idle. He had received a large amount of Hydra's technological data through a tablet.

Although due to limited time and the sheer volume of information, even with his terrifying learning ability, he couldn't master it all, he had fully absorbed all the various technologies related to or potentially useful for the Iron Man armor.

Therefore, at this time, researching the Iron Man armor with the scientific genius Tony Stark didn't put too much pressure on Chen Mo. After all, what he needed to do wasn't to start from scratch and independently develop a set of Iron Man armor.

Tony Stark had already completed the main technology and overall structure of the entire suit. What he needed to do was to modify and fill in this still rough framework, making it more complete, perfect, and powerful.

Considering the harsh pressure and temperature conditions of high-altitude flight, the suit's airtightness, internal pressure regulation capabilities, and high-altitude anti-icing capabilities were deliberately strengthened.

The outer shell was made of the gold-titanium alloy used in the Seraphim military satellite. Its excellent metal properties and density ensured the performance of the Iron Man armor while maintaining the power-to-weight ratio.

The power of the leg thrusters and flight stabilizers was optimized and improved, significantly increasing propulsion efficiency compared to the original.

In addition, at Chen Mo's suggestion, the suit also added an air filtration and anti-gas function, as well as an underwater oxygen supply device, enabling the suit to adapt to more complex and harsh environments.

Although Tony Stark had completed the main design of the Iron Man armor, many details still needed to be gradually improved, and many problems would only be discovered and further modified during use. However, Chen Mo's guidance allowed him to avoid many detours, saving a lot of time and preventing many accidents.

Imagining the improved Iron Man armor manufactured according to Chen Mo's suggestions, Tony Stark couldn't help but look at Chen Mo with admiration.

As expected of my godfather, having a father figure is really great!

And Dr. Yinsen, who was also an outstanding scientist, was completely reduced to an assistant, or rather, an intern, in front of the two geniuses, Chen Mo and Tony Stark. There was still a huge gap between him and the two. He didn't quite understand many of the things Chen Mo and Stark discussed.

However, Yinsen wasn't discouraged by this. Instead, he was overjoyed, feeling that this was a great learning opportunity. While assisting the two in their research and development, he eagerly absorbed various advanced theories and knowledge from them, constantly improving himself.

One day, the three of them were in the underground laboratory testing the newly improved flight stabilizers when Pepper Potts, holding three cups of coffee, opened the security door and walked in.

"Tony, Obadiah is here. He's waiting for you upstairs."

Looking at the three people who were completely engrossed in their work, Pepper helplessly put down the coffee and said to Tony.

"Okay, I'll be right up."

Tony replied while still busy working.

Upon hearing this, Chen Mo couldn't help but smirk. The weasel had come to pay a New Year's visit.

After testing the effectiveness of the flight stabilizers, Tony said goodbye to the two and went upstairs. Not long after, he came back down with a box of pizza.

Judging from Tony's expression, the conversation upstairs hadn't been pleasant.

The commotion upstairs couldn't escape Chen Mo's ears. Just like in the movie, Tony was issued an injunction by the board of directors, citing post-traumatic stress disorder, stopping his work and preventing him from managing the company.

Subsequently, Obadiah persuaded Tony to hand over the miniature arc reactor to him to take back to the company so that engineers could study it and put it into mass production. He argued that the huge profits it would bring would prompt the board of directors to change their decision. However, Tony firmly refused.

Of course, all of this was a charade orchestrated by Obadiah himself, with the aim of kicking Tony out, taking control of Stark Industries, and obtaining the latest technology Tony possessed.

Although Tony Stark was a bit angry, it was clear that the development of the Iron Man armor was much more important to him at the moment. He put the company's affairs aside and once again devoted himself wholeheartedly to the manufacturing of the Iron Man armor.

Soon, with the joint efforts of two geniuses and an outstanding scientist, the first official version of the Iron Man armor, the Mark II, was finally born. Tony Stark couldn't wait to stand on the equipment platform and begin the donning process.

Mechanical arms extended from all around the platform, assembling the components of the Iron Man armor onto Tony, connecting and securing them together. Pieces of silver steel gradually enveloped Tony, eventually forming an angular, sci-fi-looking, and mechanically powerful iron warrior.

"Jarvis."

Tony called out to the suit's auxiliary operating system, which had been transplanted from the villa's intelligent management system.

"At your service, sir."

The voice of the artificial intelligence Jarvis sounded in Tony's ears.

"Activate the head-mounted display."

"Acknowledged."

"Import all selected programs."

"Yes, sir."

As Tony issued one command after another, a virtual light screen appeared in his vision. Without obstructing his view, it projected various external information such as maps and altitude, as well as the suit's performance and energy levels, in front of him.

It would also automatically analyze targets he focused on with his gaze, listing relevant data, which could play a significant auxiliary role in combat.

"Upload complete, sir. We are ready."

"Very good. Now, let's begin the simulation run."

"Reset priority, calibrate working conditions."

"Check all control surfaces." Looking at the suit's status displayed on the virtual screen, Tony commanded.

"Yes, sir."

Next, the armor all over the Iron Man suit began to move one by one. Pieces of silver steel armor moved and unfolded like Transformers, before returning to their original positions.

"Test complete, preparing to shut down power and begin data analysis."

A few minutes later, after all the tests were completed, Tony Stark eagerly activated the thrusters under his feet. The Iron Man armor slowly lifted into the air, and the flight stabilizers on the palms of his hands also emitted white flames, helping him adjust his posture and maintain balance.

After a few attempts, Tony stabilized in the air, hovering steadily at a height of more than one meter above the ground.

"I'm going to go out for a good flight to test the flight performance."

Chen Mo wasn't worried about his safety since the high-altitude icing problem had been solved in advance, so he didn't stop him.

"The suit doesn't yet have the ability to fly and survive in outer space. Take it easy."

Chen Mo was really afraid that he would keep flying higher and higher. Although he wasn't afraid of icing, they hadn't solved the problems of vacuum and radiation. This wasn't diving; simple sealing wouldn't be enough.

"Got it, Dad!"

Tony Stark excitedly agreed, then leaned forward, increasing the output power of the thrusters under his feet and the flight stabilizers on his palms simultaneously, accelerating out along the curved passage from the garage to the outside.

Chen Mo and Dr. Yinsen returned to the computer to view the real-time images and various data transmitted back by the suit.

Unlike the brief flight in Afghanistan last time, the brand new Mark II was much stronger than the Mark I in terms of power, maneuverability, endurance, and comfort. The operation was very smooth. Tony flew freely in the air, shouting excitedly and joyfully.

"This is amazing!"

"It's like a dream."

Through the computer screen, Chen Mo could see that as Tony's gaze moved, the helmet automatically zoomed in on the image of a Ferris wheel in the distance that he was looking at, clearly showing the people inside the gondola. The auxiliary functions were extremely powerful.

"Alright, let's see what this Iron Man suit can do!"

Tony said excitedly, then turned around and flew straight up into the sky.

"What's the SR-71's record?"

"The altitude record for the SR-71 Blackbird high-altitude, high-speed strategic reconnaissance aircraft is 85,000 feet, sir."

"Records are meant to be broken! Let's go!"
