Sitting by the fire, I fixed my gaze into the dancing and flickering flames. The relic hung from a chain around my neck, its gentle glimmer just perceptible under the fabric of my shirt. Its strength throbbed, a consistent pattern that mirrored the pulse of my heart.
Raiden said, seated next to me, "You're too quiet." Though today he seemed on edge, his presence was steady, grounding. I said, attempting to be composed, "I'm just thinking." Still, inwardly I was nothing but "Everyone may discuss the prophecy; it is all they know." Who the traitor is everyone wonders? Raiden nodded, his eyes fixed tight.
