Freda's POV

Chapter 39.

Freda's POV.

I floated above Lucien, his body shattered and fractured, his spirit precariously close. To oppose the evil, he had valiantly risked all to guard Alyssa. But he was sliding away right now, and I couldn't let it happen. Not now. I had studied him from the minute he was born, saw the promise in him even when he couldn't see it himself. Lucien had a goodness that beyond simple ability. He had a part to perform in the prophecy, one that even he was not quite clear about. And I knew I couldn't, even as much as I wanted to go on and find serenity. Not until I had done all in my ability to rectify things.
