Chapter 44.
POV: Lucien
The clearing was chaos. The demon, only half-summoned, roared and writhed, its dark form twisting and expanding. The trees around us cracked and splintered as the demon's fury raged against them. Raiden and I fought desperately to contain the creature, but its sheer power made our efforts seem like throwing pebbles at a tidal wave.
"Lucien, we need to keep it contained!" Raiden shouted, his voice barely audible over the roar of the demon. He swung his sword, its blade glowing with magical energy, trying to fend off the demon's dark tendrils.
"I'm trying!" I yelled back, my own magic crackling and sparking as I launched blasts of energy at the demon. Each hit seemed to do little more than make it angrier. "It's too strong! We can't hold it for much longer!"
