Maya remained kneeling near the door, her eyes wide with shock at the exchange. The tension in the room was thick, and she could feel Ijar's fury radiating off him in waves.

"I'll kill him," Ijar hissed, his voice low and venomous. His hands tightened around the second dagger as his mind raced with thoughts of revenge. "Tomorrow... I'll make sure that brat begs for mercy."

Maya remained silent, sensing that now was not the time to speak. Ijar's rage filled the room, but beneath the anger, there was something else—a flicker of uncertainty.
