Chapter 183: First Week Sales

Chapter 183: First Week Sales

Not long after, the first volume of *Chainsaw Man* was officially released.

Manjie Comics decided to divide the first 19 chapters of the series into two volumes based on the story progression.

Soon after the release of the next issue of the magazine, the first week's sales figures for *Chainsaw Man* were revealed.

"Sensei, *Chainsaw Man* sold 1.6 million copies in its first week!"

Ayumi Itō congratulated Lin Qingshan over the phone. "Congratulations, Sensei!"

1.6 million copies, with *Chainsaw Man* having two volumes released simultaneously, meant an average of 800,000 copies sold per volume.

While 800,000 copies per volume in the first week was indeed impressive, Lin Qingshan remained relatively calm, considering that the sales of his previous works, *Edgewalker* and *Flame Fist*, were even more formidable.

"Thank you, Ayumi!" Lin Qingshan responded with a smile. "I'm aware of it. How about we celebrate tonight over dinner?"

"Sure, no problem!"

Ayumi Itō, accustomed to dining at Lin Qingshan's place, accepted without hesitation.

After the call ended, Lin Qingshan's assistants, Wu Shiqing, Chen Chunqiang, and Yuuta Geiteki, who had been eavesdropping on the conversation, couldn't help but express their admiration.

"1.6 million copies in sales…"

Though this figure might not seem particularly remarkable to Lin Qingshan, it was a dream number for the three assistants.

"Sensei is truly amazing... *Chainsaw Man* sold 1.6 million copies right after its release," Yuuta Geiteki said with a tinge of envy.

After spending time with Lin Qingshan, they had learned that he wasn't the type of strict boss who would reprimand them for chatting during work. Thus, they felt free to converse with him openly.

Lin Qingshan had indeed begun to take on the role of a mentor to the trio, getting to know them quite well.

Wu Shiqing, for example, seemed shy and timid on the outside but was actually fierce when arguing online. Lin Qingshan once caught her furiously typing in an online debate, her typing speed impressive enough to defend her position thoroughly. Wu Shiqing's favorite genre was shonen manga, and she often claimed that *Edgewalker* was her favorite work by Lin Qingshan, though he remained skeptical of this.

Chen Chunqiang, on the other hand, had a bit of a "chuunibyou" personality, obsessed with anime where characters exhibit overpowered abilities. He would often mutter to himself, even acting out sword moves and chanting phrases like "Shura's Demon Slash," only to freeze when he realized Lin Qingshan was watching. There was even a time when Chen Chunqiang inexplicably slapped himself during work.

Yuuta Geiteki seemed fairly normal, except for his obsession with a certain male figure skating star, whose photos he kept and would often stare at, smiling to himself. This behavior puzzled Lin Qingshan, though he was relieved that Yuuta didn't seem to have any unusual interest in him.

Aside from these quirks, Lin Qingshan considered his three assistants quite normal.

"You'll all reach this level someday," Lin Qingshan said with a smile, responding to Yuuta's comment.

He believed that both Wu Shiqing and Yuuta Geiteki had the potential to achieve similar success. Chen Chunqiang, despite not being a famous mangaka in the past, showed enough artistic skill that, with better storylines, he too could become well-known.

And when it came to stories, Lin Qingshan had plenty of good ideas to share.

"Thank you for your kind words, Sensei," the three responded joyfully, even though they half-suspected Lin Qingshan was just being encouraging. Still, receiving such praise from a famous mangaka was a great morale boost.

"Old man, the usual! One copy of *Manjie* magazine!"

Zhou Wenwei eagerly called out to the newspaper stand owner as he approached after work.

"Sure thing!"

The owner quickly handed Zhou a copy of the latest issue of *Manjie* magazine. After paying, Zhou returned to his small rented apartment, changed into comfortable clothes, grabbed a cola from the fridge, and settled in to read his favorite manga.

As he followed the story from where it had left off, he saw that the Public Safety Devil Hunters from the capital were following Makima.

"Should we go provide backup?"

"Even if we go now, it might be too late, right?"

Tendou and Kurosawa asked Makima.

But Makima remained calm, seemingly stretching her shoulders before replying, "I think the enemy is targeting Denji. We'll deal with them here."

Makima's words intrigued Zhou Wenwei. "Deal with them here?"

Curious, he read on.

Makima instructed Kurosawa, "Kurosawa, help me get 30 death row inmates from the execution site."

She then turned to Tendou, "Tendou, find a high place, preferably a temple."

"And one more thing," Makima calmly added, staring directly ahead as if addressing the readers, "get me a new set of clothes."

At that moment, Zhou Wenwei couldn't help but be captivated by the cool demeanor of the female lead.
