Heartstrings in Conflict

Zinnia took a shaky step closer, her hands trembling as she clutched her purse. "You… you remember me?" she asked, her voice breaking, tears threatening to spill from her eyes.

The man nodded slowly, his expression soft yet intense. "I do. At first, everything was a blur, but when I saw you… it all came rushing back. I'm sorry it took so long."

Tears streamed down her face as she searched his eyes for answers. "I thought you were gone forever. I… I waited, James. I never stopped waiting."

"I know," he whispered, his voice thick with regret. "I wish I could go back and fix everything, but all I can do now is be here. For you."
