Holding On

"I'm sure he's just swamped," Timmy said, his tone trying to reassure her. "But don't worry. We've got everything under control. Just stay safe."

Zinnia was about to say more, but before she could, Timmy's voice came through again, softer this time. "I'll keep you updated, okay? Don't worry too much."

Before she could respond, the call ended, leaving her standing there with nothing but questions that still burned in her mind.

But as she stared at the phone, still feeling the weight of unanswered calls and a sense of helplessness creeping in, she suddenly heard a faint sound from outside her door. A knock.

She froze for a moment, wondering if it was another call she had missed. "No, it can't be," she thought. But the knock came again, this time a little more insistent.

Her feet moved without thinking, walking toward the door as she wiped her damp palms on her jeans. "Who could it be?" she thought, already feeling a mix of surprise and confusion.
