Glutton of Blood: The Fallen Prodigy

Within the Kingdom of Ferancia, the mastery of using weapons is important. The better you are at using weapons, the more power you hold in the kingdom. The king, Louis Regiannette I is regarded as "The Sword King", as with his skills, he united the continent by charging forward in the frontlines and leading his men towards the battlefield.



However, at the old age of 97, his power weakens and so does his grip over the kingdom. Corruption plagues the kingdom, which has birthed slavery, bribery and many more. When he was younger, he would've dealt with all of that by himself. Despite having 5 children, he could not select a heir, as he believes that his children are not worthy to sit on the throne. To search for a new heir, he holds competitions around the kingdom to find a potential candidate. However, not all candidates are nominated for the throne. Some of the candidates don't make it, as nobles and powerful officials attempt to assassinate, kidnap or bribe them to disqualify or kill them. This is the reason why many commoners fail to be nominated, and why no heir has been chosen, as the king deems the nobles not worthy of his power and legacy.



Recently, there had been a series of kidnappings where nobles send bandits to kidnap children to sell them to slavery or to fight for their family in the competitions if they are strong enough. Some children are also used to experiment with performance enhancing drugs and some are abused, starved or beaten to death. These are one of the many plaguing atrocities committed by the nobles, blinded by a mysterious force that makes them seek more power at all costs.
