Chapter 23
THE THREAT
"Clara, you haven't said anything about your husband or his family since you arrived. Why is your husband not here with you?" Her father restated.
Clara's teeth clenched in anger. She has always tried to keep away the thought that her parents were the cause of her misery. At first, she hated to hear or see anything relating to her parents. She wished they never existed. She made sure she deleted every memory of them from her phone. But whenever she and Franca have any conversations, Franca never ceases to talk about how much she missed her parents and wishes they were not late. According to Franca, her father was a serious drunkard who couldn't care less about their welfare and still exerts domestic violence on her mother on a few occasions.
"No matter how useless a father is, it is better to have him alive than death. Oh, I'm missing my parents." Franca always says. Clara learned to draw her motivation from Franca's story.
