Post Match Analysis

Alexis was stunned for a few seconds after the ball went into the back of the net. It was only after a few seconds that he ran towards the corner flag while pumping his fists.

"Goal!! Fucking goal!!! I'm fucking him!" Alexis continued screaming as he pumped his fists. About thirty seconds later, he ended his celebrations and went back to his position. The bonus from scoring this goal was that he had now completed the mission that the system gave him. He almost wished that the match would be over right away so that he could get the reward.

For the next ten minutes or so, Woodbridge International was on the attack. They were two goals down and were looking to pull a goal back to get themselves back into the game. Charles Patterson's defense was up to the task, however. Xavier felt very happy from the bench watching how his players were defending. They were compact and didn't leave a lot of spaces for Woodbridge International to exploit. Woodbridge International had the ball for a long time, but all they could do was pass the ball around.

Woodbridge International had a breakthrough in their attacking pursuits. Their left winger had just gotten past James and sent a low cross into the box. Their striker managed to get a leg to it, but Archie was just in front of him, and the ball deflected off him into Alexis's path.

Alexis went on a sprint with the ball, leading the Charles Patterson counterattack. A flurry of opposition players rushed towards him, so he sent a cross-field ball to Trey, who had an abundance of space.

He continued running with the ball until he found himself one-on-one with a defender at the edge of the box. He played a pass to Joshua and started running into the box. As the defender marking Trey rushed onto Joshua, he passed the ball to Trey, who was now free, creating a one-on-one chance. Trey made no mistake and chipped the ball past the goalkeeper to get Charles Patterson's third goal of the game.

[And Charles Patterson gets a third. Wonderful football from them. Alexis started the counterattack and played that lovely cross-field ball to Trey Hamilton. Trey moved the ball to the edge of the box and that fantastic one-two with Joshua Dennis to create the one-on-one chance, and a bit of a cheeky finish from Trey Hamilton.]

[That's what we were talking about, how well the team can really gel together in such a short amount of time. We talked about how the majority of the players in the starting lineup are playing with each other for the first time, but so far, so good for Charles Patterson. Woodbridge International players suddenly look like an estranged bunch.]

[They've conceded three now, and the game is surely over for them. They might just try to get some sort of consolation goal, but that's all the goal's going to be—a consolation.]

The rest of the match didn't have any other exciting moments. Since they were already three-nil up, Charles Patterson didn't think that there was a need to take any new risks. They defended throughout and managed to keep the scoreline until the final whistle.

The Woodbridge International players looked downcast after losing. They were one of the best school teams in Birmingham, and even if it was just a friendly, losing the match left a sour taste in their mouths.

The Charles Patterson players, however, were seemingly calm. They didn't react too much to the win, almost as if it was something normal; they kept their composure.

Alexis was very excited. This was his first actual match after coming back from his ACL injury. He had played a match in the park before that, but he didn't really count that. He also played quite well, getting a goal and starting the counterattack to get the second goal.

Xavier was called over and did a series of interviews for the school paper. After he was done, he went back to the locker room and met the majority of the team changing back into their original outfits.

"Alright, boys, I'll be level with you, that wasn't a good one. We were lucky that those lads you played against were just too shit to exploit certain things," Xavier said. "I've said this so many times... Don't get caught in possession. When you're in your own half, you can't afford to lose the ball. You all watch the English Premier League, right?"

Everyone in the room nodded their heads. Who didn't watch the Premier League? Aside from entertainment, it was a good place to learn new tricks and play styles.

"Have you seen how Manchester Blue plays? They don't get caught in possession. They only ever lose the ball when they're on the attack. That's what I want from you all. I don't want to see you losing the ball so easily when you're in your half of the field. You're exposing your defense to so much. If Woodbridge International had half-decent forward players, they could've gotten two goals back."

"Another thing we're going to have to work on is—" Xavier continued complaining about mistakes they made in the match.

"Alright, lads, no training tomorrow. I don't want our sponsors complaining that I'm overworking you." After Xavier finished that statement, he looked directly at Andy, who rubbed his nose in embarrassment.

"But tomorrow's Saturday, sir," somebody said from the back.

"Do you fucking want to train tomorrow?" Xavier snapped at the person who responded.

"No!" everyone chorused at once while glaring at the person who responded. Xavier chuckled and dismissed everyone.

"Goal on your debut, nice?" Trey said to Alexis. They had left the school and were now walking home together.

Alexis smiled. "I could say the same for you."

"Yeah. I was awesome, wasn't I?" Trey smiled. "Did you see when I floored that ass defensive midfielder? I just knew he wanted to Brexit me when he started running at me like that. Ha! I made him touch grass."

Alexis listened to Trey as he went on and on about his performance in the match. He wasn't really paying attention to what Trey was saying at that point. He was thinking about the system and what would happen when he got home.
