Verdant County is a small corner of the Living Continent where many experts and fearsome entities exist. Verdant County's center was its main city, named Verdant City, but it was too luxurious for small-time cultivators to build a significant power under their leadership, thus, Maria and Veronica chose to find an even quieter corner to hole themselves up.
"Aiya, did you really have to pick this baby up?" Maria complained in exasperation, shaking her head. She was frustrated, and the reason was quite easy to understand.
The two of them chose to leave the city and go to settle in a place where Qi was sparse and talents were unavailable, all to achieve their dream. The women sought to open a female-only sect over there, and even if they were bound to be weak and small, they wanted to offer a safe place for young girls in this cruel world where might made right.
On the Living Continent, ironically, murder wasn't something too rare. While it was considered immoral and illegal, a single distortion of truth could turn any atrocity into righteousness as long as you were strong enough to enforce your twisted logic.
Thus, men of powerful backgrounds could easily decide they wanted to 'protect' a helpless girl and take her as a wife, concubine, or something lesser. Veronica and Maria might be unable to stop this practice in bigger cities, but as experts, they could be considered powerful deities as long as they retreated to somewhere remote enough.
Now, what made Maria so frustrated was the fact that Veronica was too weak-willed! They didn't even open their sect yet and she had already adopted a male baby only because she saw it abandoned helplessly on the side of the road!
"I can't leave a baby to die like a stray cat…" Veronica sighed. If she wasn't kind-hearted, she wouldn't lead her friend to a mission of saving girls at the edge of the world. Given her superior talent and good looks, she could easily find a powerful thigh to hug and settle down with plenty of resources.
"And how are you going to feed it?" Maria questioned.
"Well, I took a mission to concoct Milk Pills for Miss Yolanda in Verdant City before we left. I managed to concoct three of them while she only needed one, so I still have the other two with me," Veronica explained hesitantly. It was an embarrassing matter, after all.
"So she did have a deficiency with her breasts! I thought that Old Hag Donna was making things up!"
Veronica could only shake her head and smile. Her friend was usually reliable, but she always liked to listen to gossip. In their expedition, Veronica was meant to be the Sect Leader while Maria would be her Vice Leader.
The duo soon found a small mountain they had pinpointed in advance on their map. It had several peaks and decent Qi concentration, given the area. Their calculations made them believe that talented disciples would be able to reach the pinnacle of the second or third stage as long as they worked hard, but to get further they would need to move on to the bigger world.
That didn't bother the two ladies. Their life mission was to give an opportunity to the girls of this remote corner to grow, not to oppress them to remain small figures forever.
Maria and Veronica brandished their weapons and set out to work. The mountain range was free of ownership, but that didn't mean it had no residents. Various beasts controlled various parts of it, and they had to fight for an hour before securing a single peak, and it was the smallest one.
"Let's build a hut, we can use this peak as our base while we cleanse the area of beasts. Once we have a safe path to the nearest town, we can open recruitment and find some new disciples," Veronica ordered. The two could still fight, but the baby must be hungry and tired.
She was genuinely worried for it. Despite the long lag in its feeding time, the baby did not cry even once. At such a tender age, resilience was not considered a virtue, but could even be a hint of a lack of intelligence or cognitive abilities.
Maria soon brought some wood she had procured from the mountain and nailed them together clumsily, creating something that could almost be considered fitting for living inside it. Meanwhile, Veronica sat down on a rock before swallowing a white pill that made her lactate despite not being a mother.
"What are your plans? He can't cultivate," Maria commented to pass the worktime with chatter. She often found silence boring and stifling.
"We will just raise him and let him choose his path in life when he turns sixteen," Veronica shared her decision. A man wouldn't fit in a female-only sect, and a man who couldn't cultivate would be an even worse match for the sect's community.
"Mhm," she looked briefly at the baby gulping down milk hungrily from her friend's ample breasts, its little hands clasping on the large sack. She couldn't hold back a smile; it was indeed quite cute.

Theodor was a young man with an old-fashioned name living his perfectly normal life on Earth. Today, on his eighteenth birthday, he sat together with a bunch of his friends. They were all males, unfortunately.
"Happy birthday!" One of them raised a can of beer and laughed as he took a sip. Theodor was the oldest in their group, meaning it was the first time their group purchased alcohol legally!
Using Theodor's ID, they made a big commotion as they barged into the supermarket and had him buy five packs of beer.
"Cheers," Theodor smiled, lamenting at the lack of girls in his party. Alcohol wasn't the most exciting thing about coming to age. What he wanted the most was intimate time with a pretty girl!
"Did you ask Julliet out yet?" Someone else asked. It was no secret Theodor wanted to bang a pretty girl, it was a sentiment they all shared since years ago when hormones started flooding their brains, making them take a sword in hand and flap it every other night.
"I did…" Theodor muttered, "She said she knows I had tried my luck with two girls by now and she doesn't feel like being someone's third choice…" he confessed dejectedly. The young man thought nobody would know if he asked the girls in secret, but women weren't a species known for keeping their mouths shut!
"Hahaha, serves you right, now I just need to approach her and remind her she was my sole choice!" One plump guy laughed before downing his beer.
"Fuck off, Charles, your first choice was always Kiki, why did you change your first choice now?"
"Because Julliet is an easier target now with your cushioning!"
Theodor could only join his laughter and gulp some beer. Since Julliet was out of his reach, who cares whether this fatty bends her over or not?
He always saw himself as a magnanimous person, the success of others would never awaken greed and envy within him.
Do you doubt him?
Well, you should. The real source of his magnanimity was his friend's personality. Charles did not have the guts to approach a girl and ask her out. Hence, there was no reason to be jealous.
The group soon finished their improvised party at the park and left the place, each waddling their way to their houses while trying to look as sober as possible. Theodor was not an exception.
"Crap, I drank too much…" he pinched his glabella when the world spun as soon as he got up from the bench. It took him a moment to adjust before he walked home.
"Will I lose my virginity before I die?" He talked to the empty air as he crossed the street, clearly out of his senses.
He obviously tasted alcohol before, but it was the first time he did not hold back. Four cans were more than enough to turn him silly and send him to the toilet multiple times.
*OOOOO!*
"Huh? Did you say no?" Theodor shouted angrily and looked to the side, wanting to see who was cursing him to live as a sage. "Wait, was it a honk?" He froze momentarily, his confused senses experienced abnormal clarity. It was a truck riding toward him, he was in the middle of the highway!
How the hell did he get there?!
*Bang!*
A veil of darkness descended, covering his existence from the world.
"Ah, it was not someone cursing me to die as a sage but a honk declaring my death as a sage…" Theodor wanted to cry but had no tears.
"Wait, since I'm thinking, does it mean I'm alive?" That's when he remembered this famous saying 'I think therefore I am'. Could that old philosopher be right?
"Forget it, even if I'm alive, I will be a cripple for life. If I couldn't find a girl when my body was intact, how would I stand a chance after being run over by a truck…"
It took him a few more seconds to notice something was amiss. "Wait, am I talking right now?" He was talking the whole time, not just thinking!
Theodor tried to move but realized he couldn't. There was no feedback from his limbs, head, stomach, or anything else. The world was entirely black, void of scent or sound.
Then, he woke up. The darkness disappeared, but the world was still quite blurry. The feedback returned to his limbs, encouraging him greatly, yet he could not move. The sounds were stifling and threatening in their noisiness, but at least there were humans around. The scents were filled with sweat and stench mixed with spices, however, it was sweeter than the best wine's aroma in the dead man's nostrils.
