Valentina's head was in the clouds as Lucian held her tightly, the warmth of his arms making her feel like she was floating. For a moment, she thought it was just her imagination.

"Open your eyes, Valentina," Lucian said, his voice deep and calm. Reluctantly, she obeyed.

"Where? Are you seriously kidnapping me?" Valentina asked, her heart pounding. Her head spun as she took in the sight below. They had to be at least 5,000 feet up in the air. Panic flared inside her—if he dropped her, she'd turn into a pile of pudding on the ground.
